Wouldn't it make more sense for Vandy to be in the West? Geographically anyway?

5 traditional powers in the East?!?
Posted on 10/5/11 at 5:53 pm to NonregAg09
That would work to! Either way.

That's shitty. At least we could all get condos in the ATL for our annual Dec trip.

The reason I posted it this way is because of all the stupid arse "can't frick with because they are so important" rivalries. And geographically it makes sense if we are going to still say eastern and western division. However it is rivals need to be in the same division.

This is pretty much the way it was prior to the SEC becoming an actual conference in the 80's. If they all want to remain in the past, then they need to be together.

Look at a map, Missouri touches 2 SEC East states that contain 3 SEC East schools.
They'd be fine in the East imho.

Vandy west. UK is too far east for that to work.

So you think Alabama is further west than Missouri?

Looks like LSU can just punch it's ticket to Atlanta every year.

I didn't name the divisions east and west. I didn't demand Alabama keep their precious Tenn. rivalry! The only logical way around it would be to move only AU to the east and then keep the stupid rivalry game but only one. So which is it AU or Tenn?
Or we could have two permanent rivals and never play the other teams!
This expansion is a big crock or crap. and the stupid rivalry games across division lines makes it work even less.

Not at all. They are over 1000 miles from UF that would be terrible. Plus the are the third most western after ATM and Arky.
This division layout wouldn't work though because you have to keep somebody in the west to play with LSU.
I think because of this and the possible legal mess, the SEC stays away from missou and picks a natural fit for the east.

I'd be in favor of sending Alabama to the east. Because the LSU-UA game is too big to be anything but the SECCG. This year's game, for example, will not only be for the SEC West. It will also be the de facto SECCG and BCSCG.
As long as both Miles and Saban are at their respective schools, this will be the case.
Of course, an even better alternative would be to simply let the two highest-rated teams play for the SECCG, regardless of division.

If only the NCAA would allow this.

Yeah right! So LSU could own the West every year - I don't think so.

So you're saying Alabama wouldn't own the east?

that's a good split man. LSU oughta win that just about every year. maybe the flagship would take one every now and then. dthe east would be a bloodbath.
