Say Mizzou was coming...

No, I am not geographically challenged, i know exactly where they are on a map, but for the sake of stability, why not throw them in the east division? I just don't see why that is never listed as an option. They border two eastern states (Kentucky and Tennessee) so maybe there is potential for a bit of rivalry there???

A lot of people have suggested putting Missouri in the East, despite geography. Would solve a lot of problems.

My bad, I guess I have missed that with all of the panic over here of possibly breaking up traditional, established rivalries.

I think Missouri to the SEC East with Arkansas as their permanent cross division opponent would be embraced by the Missouri administration and fans once they look at the schedule. The football schedule would include traditional powers Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and Arkansas every year and the basketball schedule would include home and aways with Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, and Vandy not to mention a game against Arkansas and A&M each year. The schedule in both sports gets a significant upgrade. They can also still schedule Kansas as a non-conference game in both sports.

All of this sounds like the Big 10 having 11 teams for the past 10 years, a reason to be ridiculed.
We get enough crap for being in the "unedjucated" south, do we need to make this mistake too?

I dont think anyone would care, aside from maybe middle school geography teachers...who we all know watch very little football anyways.

quote:Mizzou wants B1G and *will* go even if in the SEC. So just don't invite them. But WVU wants the SEC - we're already gaining market share with the A&M entry, so deal with it and invite the natural entry that doesn't cost anybody $20 million, and brings in a rabid fanbase, and stop at 14.

MO to the East is the only that makes sense. Besides, like someobdy mentioned the other day, the East--save for Florida--is really the SEC North. Missouri fits along with UK, Vandy, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, etc...If the SEC powers that be can't see that MO to the East makes the most sense, then maybe they're not smart enough to be handling all this realignment stuff in the 1st place.

Those who ridicule can kiss our ### for all I care. They don't have any room to talk when they insist on calling a 12 team league the Big Ten while also calling a 10 team league the Big 12. The fact that Big 12 fans were cracking on SEC academics when they are actually slightly lower rated than the SEC tells you that no amount of logic and reasoning will change the minds of South/SEC haters.

True. I just hope SEC leaders are able to think outside the box a little and see this makes the most sense in keeping the successful schedule format in place. I don't understand why they can't see this and hopefully Missouri officials aren't short sighted enough to let this stipulation affect their decision.
I only wish that Virginia Tech was the team in Missouri's position and they wanted out of the ACC. Then it all would work so beautifully. Virginia Tech brings a huge chunk of the state of Virginia and a really nice compliment both athletically and academically in the SEC East to A&M in the West.

since aTm is significantly better than Missou, I fear it would upset competitive balance
