I actually didnt know. But from your instance on the question i imagined it was pretty close.
What is it like over the life of the big 12? last 25? Last 50?
Funny how people only pick up the random number of years that is negative toward Texas.
plus FEDEX

Big 12 started in 1996, so 15 games.
5-10 for us.
5-10 for us.

i really dont even understand this argument about the dates. We are rivals, just like we are rivals with Texas Tech. A&M is our second biggest rival it sucks losing them (as Tech would and as older Horns talk about not playing the piggies anymore), but not enough for me (someone who has no say over what happens in the future)to be distraught if we never play them again.
Now if someone tried to take that special weekend in October from me.. things would burn.

Your entire post is one massive ball of fail. If you actually went to school in Austin, you should consider handing your degree over.

ha sorry. I'm busy at work. Just won a major bid about 30 mins ago so I am a little distracted.
Plus thankfully I was a math major.

You are about a team who was hellbent on saving what will be a joke of a conference, and now refuses to expand it to 12 so that they don't have to play a conference championship game like the rest of us. Texas knows their national brand gets them in the title game as long as they go undefeated, so if you are a threat to actually beat them, they are not going to voluntarily schedule you.

so you are saying that if they won every game for 35 years straight they still would have not tied the series?
no, what he's saying is the last 35 years its 18-17. Congrats on all those wins in the 1890's and early 1900's

surprisingly, neither stat lends itself to any explanation as to why UT will not continue the rivalry

Personally, it'd be hilarious to see them beat up on Baylro and the like only to get stomped on the BCS title game.
what would be even funnier is if they go undefeated and get left out of the BCS CG because of a weak SOS. Even better if its to a 1 loss SEC team. With the B1G and Pac 12 having CCG now, that extra game could push them over a team not playing that week. If there was a decent program behind them in 2009 instead of Cincinnati and a couple of Non AQ's they probably would have been passed up, Cincy had a better computer score as it was.

This might explain it

To be fair, Texas' wins came from 1940-1974. A period beginning with WWII which decimated the program and ending around the time when A&M stopped requiring students to join the corps and began admitting women. Over that time period A&M was 3-31-1 which covers the large disparity in the all-time record.

Texas is just butt hurt and scared that our sec brethren would take them to poundtown

trust me, that's not it at all
they dont fear A&M any more than A&M fears UT
This is plain and simple childish pouting because they didnt get their way. Someone told UT "no" and now they are stomping their feet back into their bedroom to play with their Legos

yeah, that's true the series started 16-1 for UT though. The broader point is, since the mid 70's, when A&M was no longer an all male military school, the series has been more or less equal.

exactly, pretty sad really.

Why provide a NOW OOC rival with a national TV game on a regular basis.
They have been slightly better than avg in conference since the inception of the Big 12
(58-47) and have a 28-9 victory over TCU in the 2001 Galleryfurniture.com bowl to count as their last bowl game victory.
This is not Texas avoiding some juggernaut of a football team. We have a 10-5 record vs aggie during the above timeframe.
Hook 'Em

Gerry hit the nail on the head. It is not picking dates out of a hat to suit an argument, it is starting from a frame of reference that did not include ATM being the Citadel.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^
A perfect example of texas' M.O. They threatened the same thing last year, and pulled it out again this year. I believe that the texas alum will save the day...there is no way they will put up with the notion that they are running away. That may be the mood with the current students, but they are not the ones with the money.

see, it's these stupid little subtle words you assclowns drop into your petty responses
"provide"? Are you really that arrogant- you've played annually for the better part of a century, you're not offering anything more to them than they are to you - except a great game, and a fulfilling a great tradition. Records aside here, you dont have any sort of upper-hand status.

you really have transcended into some depth of shallowness even I have never witnessed. Now, we've gone from the infantile "I dont care" to bringing up win/loss records?? They have NO bearing at all on why you dont continue the game. None at all, now you and the rest of Longhorns are simply tossing out any ole' reason to deflect from the reality of the situation.
Your feelings are bruised and now you want to convince yourself that you dont care.

Nah, they are just generious, now they will provide Notre Dame with a national TV game.
Too bad the Aggies won't get on national TV in the SEC

..yet you guys wonder why people think you're arrogant. A&M would arguably be "providing" Texas with more by playing on a regular basis. Someone already pointed out the weakness of Texas' home schedule for 2012... that won't get any better in current Big XII. A game in Austin against A&M would easily be the largest draw and would go a ways to legitimize Texas' SOS as an SEC opponent.
