It seems that there has been little discussion concerning A&M joining the SEC and sports other than football. While College football and baseball seem to be the only sports I follow and can comment intelligently on, it is probably a good idea to look at the other sports as well. I'd be interested in hearing the Conference Rant's analysis (maybe too strong a word) on this subject.

A&M's track & women's basketball have had amazing runs but the emphasis on improving non-revenue sports is what put the aggies in the hole so that they need the $16 million interest free loan from the university.....or so I have been told.

Regardless, If KU basketball is irrelevant, then these other sports are really irrelevant in regards to conference realignment. Football & money, that is what matters.

To paraphrase Saban, "You're talking about mouse shite, and there is elephant shite all over the room."

"We're Texas" went 5-7 last year, or so I've been told...

Not sure how the loan is relevant to the conversation or that it is even an issue any more within A&M.

Things that don't matter but a disgruntled horn will always bring up aside, A&M has invested quite a bit lately in the smaller, non-revenue sports. The admin thought A&M should be as competitive as possible in everything it does, and the university has certainly seen results from that agenda (as you can see in the Director's Cup standings). As Ags, we can't wait for that list to show "SEC" next to our rank, and revenue or not, I'd expect the SEC would enjoy some added domination to their already ridiculous resume.

If Texas was ahead of A&M, Drunk would point out that we aren't worth anything to the SEC. Because we are ahead of Texas, well, then, none of that stuff matters.

As you guys can see, "We're Texas" winners always win at winning even when they're losing.

But hey, always love to hear a horn's opinion on something as trivial as A&M to the SEC. Thanks for taking the time to post on something you don't care a lick about.

Besides, shouldn't you already be pumping your post count over on the real powerhouse conference board accblitz.com?

it doesn't make sense really for nonrevenue sports to use the same conferences with travel that football, basketball, and baseball use

Outside of UK no one hear really cares about hoops. Outside of Tenn no one hear really cares about women's hoops.

Baseball has grown significantly and the SEC baseball tourney is tougher than Omaha. LSU and A&M baseball should be just as good as Texas and A&M baseball - ought to be a good annual series.

All the other sports are window dressing and that includes LSU track when Henry was here.

i like the addition of their men's basketball program as the sec in general needs all the help it can get. not going to be as tough a slate for them as in the big 12. still just hate the football idea. leave well enough alone.

When I was at LSU 2004-2008, I had a great time watching Men's and Women's b-ball games. Then again, we were good...not so much anymore.

You bring up a point that I have alluded to in several of my other posts on this board. You Aggies would bring in a good men's basketball program, a good men's baseball program, a good women's softball program and national championships in women's basketball and obviously Track & Field national championships. There is obvioulsy plenty of upside potential with having the Aggies in the SEC than just football.

What about Belton's $200M+ debt?

And our $16M interest free loan was for facilities upgrades
