re: Oklahoma Also Getting Fed Up with Texas

Would it be possible for every major school to boycott ESPN (except for Texas), therefore not allowing them to showcase games on their station?

Fwiw, I caught part of the Bob Stoops radio show tonight and he was asked about conf realignment. He said he thought major realignment (my words b/c I don't remember his exact phrasing) was coming. He was adamant that OU is big enough and has enough ratings appeal beyond the State of Oklahoma to be in a good position.
Mind-readers could interpret that in a number of ways. But it seemed clear that OU leadership has been thinking about it, and they don't want anyone to think that they are tied to a regional conf or dependent on another big school for their fate. Yes, I'm probably doing a little mind-reading here.
And I wonder if we was the vaguely referenced source in the OP.

Can't boycott ESPN, but I think Texas' desire to air OOC games on the Longhorn Network could affect other teams' willingness to schedule them.

I would love to see every team except for the shitty ones boycott playing Texas, Texas goes undefeated, and the BCS says, Are you fricking kidding me, here's a Humanitarian Bowl, take it and like it.

It seems to me that the other conference members should kick Texas out and invite someone else in.

It is the BIG 12. They don't think that far in advance.

TBH I don't understand how the Longhorn network is supposed to make any real money for the networks that carry it
Am I wrong or do they not have the rights to broadcast the major games that would be of interest? (a similar problem seems to present for Notre Dame if they joined most conferences - because I think their NBC contract demands they get first rights of broadcast)
There may be a small time interest in running the blowouts against cupcakes that some die hards want to see some of - but for the larger audience I don't think watching the horns pound North Texas will hold that much draw.
Broadcasting high school games would have been a clever idea - if it didn't seem to fly in the face of what the NCAA tries to prohibit (undue influence during recruiting). So that would seem to leave them with the broadcasting rights to cupcake football games and other Texas sporting events of lesser viewer interest.

To the horn arguing with Chicken about Texas. You don't get it - Texas is a great name program but you just do not have the same level of success that a Notre Dame, Southern California, Alabama, or even Oklahoma can point to. I understand that is the furthest thing from conventional wisdom on orangebloods - but it is also the truth.
Texas has a tremendous historical win total - but so does Michigan and no teams that win 1 national championship every 40 years are subjects of awe outside of their home states.
Reasonable people IMO would rank LSU just behind schools like Texas and Tennessee (both of whom have the same number of NCs and larger win totals). In short your argument that "it isn't even close" is silly but does a good job of generating more dislike of Longhorn arrogance.

If by true Longhorns fan you mean dumbass that probably didn't even go to college, then ok. I know that's the standard in Louisiana, but us Texas fans try to uphold a better standard.

Texas has 4, (if Bama gets to claim 13, UT gets 4) and the second most wins of any college football team all time.
If Texas claims 4 in this instance, LSU can claim like 6-7. I forget, because no sane person claims all those superfluous national titles from yesteryear.

1970 is yesteryear? Are you 15?

Who quoted yall as the Nat'l Champions in 1970? The Debbie Snack Cakes Football Poll? Yall lost your bowl game that season and Nebraska was quoted as AP Nat'l Champions. Good try.
Like I said, if LSU were to use Alabama's and apparently your logic, we would have either 6 or 7 Nat'l Championships to lean on, but we aren't retarded.

They better, having been in a conference for 80+ years with teams like Baylor, TCU, SMU, Rice and even A&M during its way down years. Add in OSU before Pickens' money, Cougar High, Tulane and Tech and its no wonder they have such a large win percentage.
Their conference games for most of their history have been against patsies. And yet they still only have 1 national title in the last 40 years and 3 conference titles in the Big XII.

Reason that they are my all-time, most overrated team in College Football History... More evident during the Mack Brown Era. Like the A&M poster said, "Texas, doing less with more..."

I pesonally cannot comment on his going to college or not - I know based on his posting, he seems to be a fair level headed Longhorns fan - unlike yourself.

damn dude you cut to the bone, what a witty well thought out reply. wanna make a comment about my mom, or some other high school level insult?

get back to me when you have a decent comeback or insult - cause right now, your not cutting it.

And Texas was the national Champs according to the Coaches poll. I guess by your standard LSU didn't win the nation championship in 2007.
