Finnebaum and others have gotten word from Mizzou themselves refuting the report. Story is no longer on ESPN.com (no retraction story either..imagine that).

Edit: Mizzou denies. LINK

I don't think it's false in the sense that Mizzou is not coming to the SEC, I think it's false that it's happening this weekend. (However I would expect the next step to happen at the BoR meeting at Mizzou this weekend.)

I posted on here Thamel is a total arse clown and half the shite he writes is wrong.

The NYT has become an embarrassment by him still having a job.

Didn't Orangebloods report the same info as Thamel, Mizzou most likely to SEC soon, citing three different sources? At least I thought I read that.

Its only a matter of time.

Not sure. I did see that posted here (that Chip Brown was reporting the same).

ETA: I also agree it is only a matter of time. It is just that some, like Thamel, have no real sources and run with stories without vetting them properly.

Missouri curators are meeting late tomorrow afternoon in KC in a closed door meeting.

COLUMBIA | Missouri’s Board of Curators on Monday released an agenda calling for a closed executive session for 3:45 p.m. Thursday in Kansas City.

That closed session — if it mirrors a similar one held by the curators on Oct. 4 in St. Louis — could produce the next public step in the process of whether Missouri remains a member of the Big 12 or moves further toward joining the Southeastern Conference.

A story released early Monday evening by The New York Times quoted an unidentified college official with direct knowledge of the situation as saying Missouri’s application to the SEC was “inevitable and imminent,” though the source did not provide a timeline for that.

For nearly a month, The Star has reported a shared interest from Mizzou and the Southeastern Conference. Recently that interest has been publicly acknowledged by interim Big 12 commissioner Chuck Neinas.

Sure is funny that when Thamel was writing bullshite about Eric Bledsoe and Calipari how everyone thought he was writing gospel. This is at least the third bullshite article that he has written.

Even if Mizzou doesn't come, there is more than a 50 50 chance that the SEC will simply wait for an ACC team to come in a year or two....in which case WVU is still left out.
