You're right Texas really is "A whole 'nother country" as the add campaign says. They honestly have no clue as to how much they are hated and then when they do begin to get a clue they respond with "Frick you, we're Texas."

Texas isn't even that big of a college football state. Yes, of course, it is compared to most states, but by SEC standards, it really isn't. In fact, high school football in the really big deal in Texas.

It kind of depends on your standards, I guess. If you are talking about percentage of the population that closely follows college football, then you're right that more people follow high school and professional.

Raw numbers, however, would show that more people in Texas follow college football than any state represented in the SEC with the possible exception of Florida.

Before you take the Lord's name in vain, I would suggest that you compare the average dude in Alabama's interest in college football to that of the average Texan. It isn't even close. Based on percentages, college football barely even registers in Texas compared to the SEC states.

you are probably right, due to their being 2 NFL teams in texas and none in Alabama. it's just a strange argument. College football is huge in Texas, there's just a bazillion college teams so it's watered down a bit as well.

Probably true that HS football is the biggest, but there are also 5-6x as many division 1 football programs in Texas than any other SEC state not shaped like a penis pissing on Cuba. That doesn't happen without MAJOR support.

I think the only thing Texas is asking itself is how much easier can it make its path to the MNC and for more pillowcases in which to put all that money.

It's the side of Bus 12 (the one driven by the Aggie parents of the year on gamedays blaring FTAB music), with the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio in the background. It was taken my freshman year ('06), when TAMU played Army in the Alamodome. Aggies won on a goal-line stand as time expired (one of the few games Fran managed NOT to choke away).
