Let's talk about how the Big East survives...

Current football members (not including Pitt and Syracuse):
West Virginia
UConn
Rutgers
Louisville
South Florida
Cincinnati
Add two teams to get to 8 teams:
Boise State (maybe for football only)
Central Florida (up and comer)
You would have to hope that Louisville would not jump ship if Mizzou bolts to the SEC.
If you are Louisville, do you jump to the unstable Big 12 or make a revamped Big East work? This assumes that the Big East keeps its automatic bid to BCS.
How do you see this playing out?

Just saw an article about the Big East considering SMU and Houston...plus some service academies, to get to 12.
Big East - West:
Boise State
Louisville
SMU
Houston
Cincinnati
Air Force
Big East - East:
West Virginia
UConn
Rutgers
South Florida
Central Florida
Navy
What do you think? As strong as the ACC?

The way the Big East-East is playing they would compete with most of the Big 12 and ACC.

If the Big East could pull those teams that I listed together, and Mizzou bolts to the SEC, what would the Big 12 do? They would need to get someone like Tulane. Who else would be realistically available?

Memphis. I know they suck in football but would be good addition for basketball. Hell I'd even go after Colorado State, they usually give Colorado a good game, by joining a major conference they might pull some good recruits.

Thought it was reported that Temple had an invite.

Almost as funny as Ole Miss being in the SEC. Wouldn't be a bad fit.

Only after Tulane turns them down.
