Would love to know where all of this $ is coming from all of a sudden. You lose teams, but the conference is now worth more? Why wasn't this deal done before?

Fox Cable is what is being said. How it's split is simply someone's guess at this point.

More importantly to UT, they get to have their own network as well, which is what Dodds has wanted all along.

They would also be allowed to form their own network, something that would not be allowed in the Pac-10. The source said the network could eventually produce up to $5 million in revenue based on projections.

Which A&M is proving to be a very stupid decision on their part.

what network in the right friggn mind would offer that up to a Big12-2? What a boring schedule of games up every week. TU versus Baylor, aTm versus Kansas State (last years was entertaining though) Outside of the RRR and aTm/TU, who gives a flip? meh...maybe when tech plays you guys IN the wastelands of lubbock.

Those delusional idiots in Texas have convinced the networks that people in their state will watch the games...most likely. Tejas replaces Bama is the most delusional and self inflated fanbase...ever

Where is this money coming from? I don't by that a ten team Big 12 can land a tv contract that big.

This.

I'll believe it when I see where the money is coming from.

So Fox is going to spend a shite load of money for some games no one is going to watch, save 1 or 2 (OU/UT) and (aTm/UT)?

They don't replace them. Horn fans have ALWAYS been this way.

This new BigX would be the most volatile conference in the nation.

there will be rumors for the next 5-10 years of Teams leaving ( Texas-Pac10, Mizzou-Big10, Kansas-Pac-10) until the conference is no more.

There is no more trust. There is no more loyalty. let it be done with.

so nebraska and colorado, the only teams in the big 12 north with tradition and history, leave (taking with them the denver market) and the big 12-2 gets more money?

and a poster above me was right, how do you go into a conference where there is absolutely no trust between schools?

i hope our administration sees through this bull shite and tells tu to go sit on a pole in austin (which is right up their alley) and we head east to join our sec brothers.

if they don't, the current administration will not see another dime of my money...and there are a great many ags in that boat.

ESPN just said the new TV deal being cooked up for the Big 12-2 will pay Texas and Texas A&M between $20-25 million/year and all of the other schools $14-17 million/year.....

.......but A&M hates unequal TV revenue distribution so they wouldn't even think about taking this deal, right?

Idiot.

I don't believe anyone thinks this "fix" is more than buying time. They'll have another year to figure out where they'll end up.

Agreed. The Big 12 with OU, TX and A&M in it is toast. The word is out there is discontent and, eventually, the SEC/Big 10/PAC 10 will get their trophies.

ESPN is probably in full panic mode. Losing the Big 12 is bad for them, as they lose a lot of content. and they certainly don't want to lose Texas to FOX. Texas found a new party to exploit: ESPN. ESPN has to be paranoid that they are about to lose the Texas teet.

I don't think the BigX will ever be a reality...jmo

A&M will shite bricks if UT gets it's PPV network; regardless of what conference they end up going to. The Commish says it has to be 10 teams. Any one of the remaining say no, and it's done before it ever gets started.

It definitely puts more pressure on the Aggies.

Money talks, I know, but I'd like to see the Aggies take the SEC route. The truth is they have been the Horns doormat for a while now, despite a couple of upset victories, and it would be good for them (IMO) to strike out on their own. Thanksgiving Day game notwithstanding.
