Larry Scott - Expansion
It's good to see at least one person out there is thinking logically. Scott says he would prefer if everyone stays at 12 like it is now. Did leave the door open to say if others expand then obviously they would be forced to consider it but it's not their preference. The Pac-10 did include provisions in their media contract that cover if the conference expands.

He will change his mind tomorrow.

This is just what he's saying to prevent any TI claims.

Everyone's a conspiracy theorist.
I'm gonna go with that he is the only one who is thinking that this is gonna ruin the sport as we know it and push us towards bloated super conferences.

That doesn't explain why he was in negotiations with Texas, A&M, OSU, Tx Tech and OU last summer to join the Pac 10 with Colorado...

He also states in the article that he is gonna go big this time too if people expand. He just would prefer not to do that. The Big 12 looked like it was crumbling last year as well so he was going for gold and he will do it again this year if thats what happens. Doesn't mean it has to be his first preference. At the end of the day he has to do his job however.
I akin it to my feelings on expansion. I'm adamantly against expansion. I think it's putting us squarely on a path to be set up with super conferences and an nfl style playoff which I don't like. However, if change is inevitable and nothing is going to stop it then I want us to grab A&M immediately and start being proactive with finding other schools to stay ahead of the race. Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst kind of mentality is my thought.

You are not really that naive are you? He would stick his face up Bevo's arse if it meant he could land Texas and Oklahoma. He is saying this as a defense to a potential lawsuit and so that he can claim he did not cause all the chaos....it was the SEC's fault.

The Pac-12 already has the best deal among the conferences right now. They will only restructure after the SEC makes a new deal. He would prefer not to expand and I think the Pac-12 stays at 12 for a few years before it goes to 16. I think the Big 12 (-2) will survive by adding 1 or 3 teams and Oklahoma showing their arse by trying to secure a deal from the Pac-12.

They (Pac-12) doesn't want Ok lite & Texas Tech, they will take UT & OU. But that's it.

Smoke screen! GD said it earlier - they tried to go 16 last year - nothing has changed.

Yea, they go to PAC16 with two divisions: West (aka Wild West) and Pacific (aka Original PAC 8). The Arizona schools may not like it because they depend heavily on CA for recruits. But with 9 conference games (like they have now) and two of those coming from the other division, all the West teams would be gauranteed 1 CA team per year.
West: Tex TTech Okla OkSt. Col Utah Ariz AriSt.
Pacific: USC UCLA Stan Cal Ore OrSt. Wash WaSt.

If the PAC16 does happen. The Big10 ought to get off their arses and invite Kansas and Mizzou. They would fit nicely in the Leaders (Mizzou) and Legends (Kansas) divisions as cross division rivals. That lets Mizzou continue their traditional border rivalries with Illinois and Kansas while Kansas will be in the same division as Nebraska.
