College Station, TX. Baton Rouge, LA. Let's take temperature into consideration please.
Problem solved by not being a wuss.
(Would the temperature be different if we were playing ULM?)

seriously for those who want to start the season vs A&M
Are you fricking insane? Yeah let's start the season with a CONFERENCE game
Your implication that starting the season with Texas A&M (whether they are in the SEC) is somehow a silly idea is silly.

Never.
frick A&M.
But for the sake of the question, I'd say first game of the season.

comparing OOC games to SEC games is rather silly isn't it?
Va Tech was after MSU btw
I'd rather take the chance of losing to a quality OOC team starting the season than possibly losing a SEC game right off the bat and being behind the eight ball one game in.....
How many other SEC schools start their season with a conference game btw?
I'm pretty sure the answer is Zero

Last game of the year. Too much ice in R-Kansas that time of year

Come on, man. You should be more informed if you're going to be a smart arse.
Please explain, AGAIN, what SEC teams face each other to start the season every year? Who might they be?
LSU-MSU on a Thursday ONCE in 10 years ain't really counting there smartguy
You want this game to start the season every year so please share with us the two SEC teams that face each other to start the season every season

Don't care, either way I'm screwed...wife is an Aggie...the cotton bowl was bad enough
I'm with ya Kingwood..my wife is an Aggie too. Still excited about the potential annual matchup though...and I would make it an annual season opener in the Death Star (Jerryworld).

quote:Irrelevant. Whether or not any team has ever done this does not predicate whether or not LSU and Texas A&M, who used to play each other opening weekend every year, should do this.

Just disagree with me--no big deal. We don't need the gay crap.

Yeah lets open up with Townson instead. So much more exciting!

uh no my point was always about starting the season with a sec game every year, that is just ignorant but to be expected from some on this board (present company excluded....maybe)

that's what I have done. Foolish to start a season with a SEC conference game every year. You think it's great. And of course as usual you are wrong

huh? Not into that brah but I don't judge, knock yourself out

quote:Also, it spreads the cupcake games and the bye out through the season, making the SOS more efficient. Opening the season with Towson is like taking your lunch break as soon as you punch the clock.
Les has already said several times he & the team enjoy opening with a quality opponent.
Ideal LSU sked imho (with A&M & FSU hypothetically added):
September 1-7: Texas A&M
September 8-14: ulm/ULL/LT/Tulane
September 15-21: Cleverly scheduled BCS school projected to go 4-8
September 22-28: Auburn
September 29-October 5: bye
October 6-12: Florida
October 13-19: FSU/GA/KY/SC/TN/VU
October 20-26: ULM/ULL/LT/Tulane
October 27- November 2: Ole Miss
November 3-9: Alabama
November 10-16: Mississippi State
November 17-23: ULM/ULL/LT/Tulane
November 23-29: Arkansas
December 1-7: SEC Championship Game
January: BCS Championship Game

Why?
I'll try and put it in a way you can understand:
"while LSU has a want to always play the highest quality opponent, the want to do that in the first game of the season, from a conference perspectative , the chance to possibly suffer defeat in that contest, outweighs the great desire to face a rival in the SEC in the season's first game which would but great pressure on our young men, who represent this school in a quality way"
Posted on 8/18/11 at 5:50 pm to stapuffmarshy
Does the chance of losing the game decrease later in the year?

of course not but in concept you would know your team better after two-three games, and you would be able (in concept) to evaluate the other team better
teams in the SEC first goal is to win the conference, I think we would both agree....Losing a tough OCC battle to start the year could be overcome in the big picture, starting with a division foe could put you two games outta first after one game...I dont think LSU or A&M would look at that in a positive light, nor would most schools
2007 started with MSU and CLM wasn't all that happy about it and at that time MSU was hideous and he still didn't like it, can't blame him
Posted on 8/18/11 at 5:57 pm to xiv
the correct answer is the 3rd playing week... Why? Same weekend as Austin City Limits Music fest! I get a 2 for 1 with just a short drive
