TCU is the obvious choice

Why is Louisville NEVER mentioned as a possible addition?
SEC doesn't want to add another school that already has an SEC school in their state.
they want to "expand the footprint"

Since when did we grab A&M? Is that official? I can never tell what is actually true and what is just considered probable anymore.

Why do we NEED to go beyond 14 teams?
ESPN and the BCS says we do.

We granted them admission on the condition the Big XII signs a document signing away their right to sue the SEC or A&M

Louisville is a worse option than clemson, other than the buyout.
Maybe, unless the SEC is also looking at basketball and marketing it as well.

it's been reported in a several outlets that the gentlemen's agreement to exclude existing states is no longer. i think Slive now has the power to look at all options, which could also include reaching out to schools, rather than waiting for them to call. w/ Pitt & Syracuse, you see a lot can happen under the radar. i do think the SEC is being very careful not to doing anything rash that will disrupt the harmony that makes the league so great. this includes similar schools w/i reasonable travel proximity. i believe an ACC that ranges from Boston, MA to Syracuse, NY to Miami, FL is destined to fail for the fans. it's fine for TV and basketball, but not for football fans that travel.

Alright, so we are at 12 teams currently. One has an invite, but that invite is outstanding indefinitely. It just doesn't seem "obvious" to me that A&M is joining the SEC yet. I wonder if people are just taking these reports for granted.

chicken read my other post please, i explain why fsu is not a good get for future of the conference.

I'm seeing a lot of TCU being tossed around. Their football team has been solid for a while but their fan base is really small and I don't think they bring that much value to the conference. If their football program declines everyone's gonna be wondering why the hell they were ever invited.

I think Mizzou would be a good choice TV-wise. Columbia sits almost exactly halfway between KC and St. Louis - each is a TV market of 2 million plus. It's not really a southern school, but there is some southern sentiment in the southern half of MO, esp. the Bootheel. Some good atheletes come out of both towns.

What is the sentiment in Missouri...do they want the SEC or do they want Big Ten?

VA Tech is a former Big East team and probably doesn't have the same loyalties to the conference as its founding members do. It's a southern school

I understand the want to stop at 14. I want that too. But it depends on if other 16-team superconferences start to emerge. The SEC won't let itself get stuck behind when the BCS's contract runs out in 2015 and there happens to be three superconferences with talks of an 8 team playoff system.
Quality over Quantity. That's why I say stop at adding TAMU and WVU for now, but there will be better options in the next few years to invite to the SEC, and we should jump at them to stay a power conference.

If that's true then why isn't FSU being pursued more? That's the team that makes the most sense, IMO.
