I made a trip up to tally last weekend. Happy hour at Pots, then to AJ's and Mardi Gras (which is nothing like fricking Mardi Gras, FYI )

Can't say enough about what a great fit FSU would be.

Are there a lot of Mizzou fans in St. Louis and Kansas City, or are those more pro sports towns?

Westward ho...

Or is that a topic for the OT or history board?

Mizzou offers a much larger market expansion than FSU, which is ALL expansion is about. Its not about competition.

Nothing like the passion fans in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida have.

Have you seen the Chiefs play? StL has never fully gotten behind the Rams when they refused to change their names. StL is a baseball town year round. Mizzou is the big state university and has a sizable following all over the state.

Nobody in the country can rival that. We are looking at 2nd best options.

Mizzou would be a pretty good addition.

SEC expansion into St. Louis and kc >>> Tallahassee. LSU already has a presence in Florida.

I've lived in MO as well and I've been to Columbia many times. Several of my family members are Mizzou grads. Great basketball town, not so much for football. It's all about the Chiefs with some Rams fans.

Plus Columbia is not a true SEC town, I don't care how you try and spin it. Good college town but not the same as the SEC.

Trust me, Tallahassee > > > Cloumbia.

Plus the recruiting will screw with UF, and that's a win as far as I'm concerned.

Florida State had their chance to join the SEC but Bowden decided to take the easier route and join the ACC. Bowden also didn't want to play Bama and Auburn during the same season in football. Florida State's excuse for not joining the SEC was because they wanted to improve their basketball program.

Not with the SEC. We don't need to expand to a market like STL or KC. That's just rediculously overrated.

I could see how someone from LA would be a little let down.

I think all of the talk about markets have skewed what is important here. The thing that keeps the SEC brand strong is the competition, not the footprint. I feel like FSU in the big 3 sports will add to the SEC. For starters they are equal to or better than more than half of the conference if you look at atheletics as a whole and will only be stronger when football gets back on track.

ETA: There are already built in rivalries with UF, LSU and AU, though the last 2 haven't been play in a while.

I guarantee you that the Chiefs have a greater fan base across the state of MO than Mizzou football does. They have arguably the best fan base in all of pro football.

shite half of the state pulls for KU when it comes to basketball.

I'm not trying to knock Mizzou at all, I'm just saying that we aren't that desperate to pull teams that are not in the south into the SEC.

Geographically Mizzou is not too far but you and I know that there is a night and day difference between the culture of Mizzou and every other SEC school.

Then you're fricking retarded.

Mizzou is and will always be a basketball school. If the football team wins, then great, but you are pretty damn ignorant if you believe that MU football has a greater following than KC Chiefs football.

Missouri just doesn't work. The fans aren't as passionate, the program isn't as strong, the location is all wrong, and the marketshare wouldn't be that impressive.

I want them in because I grew up there and the only time we played, they won in a shitty game in Saban's first season.

I want to beat them on the regular - it would drive my brother crazy!
