The SEC is top heavy with 2 teams just like every other conference. Right now you have Florida and Bama.
No, here's where you're wrong. Here's CFB Data Warehouse's all-time program rankings:

LINK

The SEC has the #1 program, three in the top ten, five in the top 15, six in the top 20, and SEVEN in the top 25. No other conference can match the SEC's number of top tier programs.

The Big 10 has two top ten programs (well, now 3 with Nebraska), 4 in the top 15, 5 in the top 20, and also seven in the top 25. The Big 10, historically, is the equal of the SEC.

The soon-to-be defunct Big 12? 3 in the top 10, and 4 in the top 20 (A&M is #20). The rest of their top 7, to compare with the seven in the top 25 with the two premier conferences, are ranked: #36 Mizzou, #41 Colorado, and #44 Baylor. That's right, BAYLOR is historically the 7th toughest program in the Big 12.

The Pac-10 is no different. One top 10 program, two top 20, and only three top 25 programs. Even adding Texas, OU, and the assorted Big 12 detritus still makes it weaker than the Big 10 and SEC. There are still only five top 25 programs, though Stanford is #30 and Cal #31.

So, no, most conferences are NOT just two teams. Even the "Big Two and Little Eight" has more depth than the Big 12 and the Pac-16.

haha.....

Ohio State is seriously a shite school though. They are the "one that doesn't look like the other" in the Big Ten...and that's really saying something because the other schools (minus Michigan) are nothing special.

Now that I think about it, the rest of the Big Ten is kind of using their association with Michigan as proof of their academic superiority.

You SEC blowhards really crack me up. I'll give you credit and admit that the SEC is the best overall conference. However the way you guys try to make it sound like it's a week to week blood bath and that the worst of the SEC is better than the best of other conferences is ridiculous. The SEC is top heavy with 2 teams just like every other conference. Right now you have Florida and Bama.

What separates the SEC from all other conferences isn't the top. . .it's the middle.

Our top alternates constantly

East:

UF and UT
occasional UGA

West:

LSU and Bama
Occasionally Auburn

That is our top. Now look at last year.

Top:

Bama
UF

Middle:

LSU
Auburn
UT
Ole Miss
UGA
Arky

I mean frick, man. . .look at the MIDDLE players in the conference last year. Our bottom is most conferences middle.

Big 10 had a great year, and it was a down year in the SEC.

Nebraska is going to force you guys to change your offenses, with the defense they have.

didn't Texas threaten Rice that if the Owls played LSU in home and home games, that UT would not play Rice IN ANY SPORT. and wasnt the real reason that UT did NOT want LSU playing in Texas?
And now they are jerkin off a limp dick because aTm joining the SEC in the western division means that LSU will be playing aTm in Texas every other year. Now....what Rice ought to do, is follow aTm's footprints (if they do indeed join the SEC)...schedule LSU in home and home in the years that aTm plays us in BR, LSU and Rice play in Reliant....hell, even Rice Stadium would be fine...thats 72,000....two texas schools tellin UT to go to hell....PRICELESS!

that wasn't about offenses.
It was about school rankings, and in fact, adding Nebraska will hurt us. But, as Nebraska stated:
quote:

"The Big Ten is all members of the AAU, which is of considerable importance when you try and recruit faculty, when you seek research grants, when you do other things in the academic environment," Perlman said.

Added in with being in the CIC, they'll only move up.

Texas & co. Want a cupcake conference schedule while keeping the sec out of the state of tx in recruiting. But it will backfire.

Everything's gayer in Texas

I know.

My comment on Nebraska was a separate issue. They play better team-oriented defense than any team in the country. It's fun to watch, but the Big-10 offenses are going to have their hands full.
