Any bowl game with Big 12 ties must change. Perhaps they'll follow to the Pac 16.

At the least, the Big 12 ones will realign.

If the Pac Ten ends up with 6 former Big 12 teams, they'll probably gain a number of the better ones like the Cotton Bowl. That's a major pickup for the Pac Ten because there is a MAJOR drop off in their bowl bids past the Rose Bowl, as the Holiday Bowl was #2 and it was a game against the #4 or #5 team from the Big 12.

Big 12 had quite a few bowl alignments already, they can't all go to the Pac-16

are they aligned contractually? if the Big 12 adds a few shite teams to remain a conference, could you end up seeing those bowls be forced to include these teams for a few years?

Cotton has to follow. Maybe Holiday, Gator, Alamo/Sun?

the Holiday and Alamo bowls currently pit a Big 12 vs Pac 10 team, so that would have to change to something other than the Pac10

Oh well. Maybe all bowl games should be reconsidered.

The Alamo was also taking the former Holiday bowl matchup... #2 Pac 10 v. #3 Big 12... now they will have to add a conf tie in

big 12 bowls

quote:

Following is the Big 12's selection order:
BCS - Tostitos Fiesta
AT&T Cotton (SEC)
Valero Alamo (Pac-10)
Insight (Big Ten)
Bridgepoint Holiday (Pac-10)
Texas (Big Ten)
New Era Pinstripe (Big East)
Dallas Football Classic/Eagle Bank (Big Ten/ACC)

So you'd think:

1) the Cotton Bowl will stay with the new Big 12 teams,
2) the Alamo will need a different opponent (outside of pac/big 12 conference)
3) Ditto for Holiday Bowl
4) Insight bowl probably stays affiliated with the new conference

Other stuff who knows

Problem is, the Cotton Bowl will become BCS. And lets say UT makes the Rose Bowl, or isn't worthy of a bid..and another school is....the Cotton Bowl will be EMPTY on the Pac 16 side.....PAC Ten teams dont draw for away bowls like the SEC and Big 12 did...
