Who has a better first season in the SEC? Let's assume Mizzou joins the East and plays A&M as a CDR so all other games remain the same.

For comparison Arkansas was 6-6 (5-4 conf) in 1991 in the SWC and went 3-7-1 (3-4-1 conf) in 1992 in the SEC (4th SECw in front of Auburn and LSU)

South Carolina in 91 went 3-6-2 as an Independent and in 92 went 5-6 (3-5 conf) finishing 4th in SECe in front of Kentucky and Vanderbilt

It appears A&M and Mizzou are stronger entering the SEC than the last round of expansion. I did not realize that. I really wish A&M had joined in 1992

What a weird season Arkansas had. They went 3-4-1 in the SEC but lost all 3 OOC to The Citadel, Memphis and SMU. WTF?

Also they beat USCe 45-7.

I'm done with my tangent. Back to topic

I guess Mizzou just for being in the east.

aTm is starting 0-4 right off the bat.

Depends entirely on schedule and what the final recruiting classes look like this year.

I could see A&M going anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3, although I think 8-4 is a reasonable expectation given how down the East is. Auburn, Bama, Arky, and LSU will all be tough games, but I definitely think we could beat Auburn or Arky if the game is at Kyle.

Given that Mizzou is in the East, they should have an easier schedule depending on who they play from the West. If they miss both LSU and Bama, for example, then it wouldn't surprise me if they did better than us year 1.

Mizzou

East is the easier division.

LSU, Ark, Aub, will return alot of talent

Bama w/ Saban will always be tough.

Ole Miss should be much improved.

Aggies lose alot of starters and will strugle in conference play.

Offensively, we should be fine. We lose Cyrus, Tannehill and Fuller, but return our entire OL, Micheal, and the rest of our WRs. As long as we get decent QB play, we will score points.

Defensively, we lose our top 2 CBs, and most of the DL. However, if we get the JUCO DL we are going after and get Mathis back after a medical redshirt, we should be fine there. We also have potentially solid JUCO fill ins at CB and ILB, and should have decent depth at both positions.

We won't be a perfect team by any means, but I think we will do a lot better than most think, barring an absolutely ridiculous away schedule.

Sherman is also a liability vs Saban, Miles, Petrino and Chiz.

If aTm goes 3-5 you should be happy.

Of course Missou might not be much better.

not knowing what a&m returns or what mizzou even has it is difficult to say. a&m will have the toughest conference schedule but will be the better team. i'm gonna say they will be about the same.

Strick, you know that both Garrick Williams and Trent Hunter have, for all intents and purposes, lost their starting jobs, right?

That means 3 more starters return on defense assuming Jonathan Mathis gets a med RS.

Starting Defense next year will look like:

DE - Nealy
NT - Compton/Ennis/David
DE - Mathis
LB - Porter
LB - Stewart
LB - Jenkins
LB - Moore
CB - Harris
FS - Campbell
SS - Matthews
CB - Raven/Everett/Monroe/Blake

Yep, that's why I didn't really say anything about ILB and Safety. Biggest issues there will be reliable depth, especially safety. Eddie Porter (JUCO), Stewart, Jenkins, Thomas SHOULD be pretty good at ILB.

OLB is solid with Moore, Sean Porter, Brandon Alexander, Tyrell Taylor, and Shaun Ward.

Along the DL, getting Mathis back will be huge, but we need at least 2 more JUCO DL to be in good shape there, IMO. Need depth, Ennis and Nealy aren't really SEC-type DL, and having Damien Jacobs along with Sentimore would go a long ways towards turning that part of the defense into a strength.

Also, don't forget about Dustin Harris and Otis Jacobs (JUCO) at CB. Raven, Everett, and Hurd should get plenty of PT, but I doubt we start Monroe or Blake as true FR unless they pick up the D really quick and just blow everyone away in practice.

pretty obvious answer imho if Mizzou goes east they will.

Bama loses a ton this year so TAMU might beable to get them so tossup(edge going to bama). Ark loses alot on D but its been horrible anyways so Ark wins that. LSU should be the front runner for the west next year so LSU wins that. Auburn will be on their home series so they should be good and win that. and that leaves the Sippi teams.

Without looking at schedules, I might agree with you, but if Mizzou plays 2 of Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Arky from East, then idk. They could easily lose to Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. Maybe Tenn will finally decide to stop being terrible. It will be interesting to see how their spread offense translates to the SEC.

Same holds true with us. If we end up with say, Kentucky and @South Carolina as East opponents, and a West schedule of @Arky (at JerryWorld), @LSU, @MSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, in an ideal scenario we could go 11-1 with that schedule. That's assuming we get all our JUCO's in and they pan out, we get good QB play from the start, secondary takes a step up from last year, etc. If you want to be conservative 9-3 wouldn't be unreasonable. By the same token, if we get a really nasty road schedule, 6-6 could happen.

It's all hypothetical, but just because Mizzou is in the East doesn't automatically guarantee they will have the better record next year. It's really impossible to predict without knowing what the schedules will be. If I had to guess right now, I would say we go 8-4, 4-4 in SEC play.

Exactly can't make educated guesses until the schedule come out. I was going with replacing either Missi teams this year for yalls schedule. Yall would Lose 3-2(Auburn being a toss-up that yall should win but put down as a loss) for the west.

I haven't seen Mizzou this year but from history of them spanking us(only game I remember is the RunDMC game we lost to them with 3 NFL HB's in the backfield) I'd give them the benefit for the East.

But at the moment I am past shitfaced.

I bet TAMU finishes closer to 6-6 than 9-3. Guaranteed losses to Bama, LSU, Arky, and Auburn next year. Toss up with Miss State and will lose to a team from the SEC east. This is also assuming TAMU doesn't play anyone good from the Big 12.
