According to media reports in the SEC there is a desire on the part of Alabama that its annual rivalry football game against Tennessee be confirmed in any new expansion plan.

An expert at one of the national recruiting services told The Star on Monday that Alabama also would be concerned if Auburn were shifted to the east division of the SEC in order to accommodate Missouri being added to the west. That concern would be any advantage Auburn might gain in recruiting hot beds in Georgia and Florida.

I feel like getting Louisiana and Texas should balance that out.

Your title should read, "One experts reason why he thinks Bama may not want AU to move east."

Yea Bama already tries to pull players out of Louisiana and can't seem to get much of anything of worth.

To OP, I thought this was obvious. Bama is trying to hold Auburn down. This is not news.

Are your type being allowed to post prior to July 1, 2012?

Hush up and sit in the back of the room.

As a matter of fact...get out of the room and come back when you show yourself worthy of SEC football conversations.

It is absolutely a concern Bama has. We recruit Florida and Georgia heavily, much more than we do LA or TX. We don't want our chief in state rival going into every mom's home talking about how they can see their kid play nearly every game at AU while Bama will be shipping them off to Texas and Missouri every year.

Hm. No.

We are glad to be in your conference. Thats where it ends. Surely you dont think its coincidence auburn wanted east and bama wanted that nonsense put down right? Id rather Auburn stayed, I like their campus and wiminz.

I don't think Bama is too worried about recruiting.

I still think this whole permanent opponent thing needs to go away. Obviously if Auburn did go to east you can't get rid of Iron Bowl. But the Bama Tenn game is not the end all of the conference.

I think you are mistaken. And I also think any potential advantage AU gains by going East is more important than bama keeping the UT rivalry (to bama).

You have to remember, AU has been beating on bama for 30+ years. Bama now appears to have the upperhand, but over the past two years, AU actually has a higher average recruiting ranking if you include Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. And all of those players are qualifying and on campus.

Bama is concerned and they know AU is already more than holding their own in recruiting as it is.

Auburn already recruits Georgia well and will apparently play them every year one way or the other. Alabama will gain regular games in Texas (as well as the occasional game in Florida)

I don't see the logic in this one

AU recruited FL extremely well in the late 80's and early 90's until we stopped playing UF annually. It has dropped off since then. AU had a FL pipeline through Dillard and St Thomas Aquinas.

Alabama will continue to get talent whether Auburn stays in the West, moves to the East, or becomes independent, starts its own network and becomes the Notre Dame of the south.

Bama will always get minimum 75% of top players in state of Alabama

Auburn fans are in denial if they think anything else

It is NOT about Alabama, it was about Auburn being stronger... When Auburn gets players in Louisina or Arkie, you guys scream... Would have preferred, recruiting Florida more... It does make a difference...

I'd rather Auburn stayed in the West because I like seeing the LSU/Auburn games - I think putting Mizzou into the East with A&M in the West balances out

But things change sometimes - supposing Auburn did go to the East and work on developing another pipeline with Florida? Alabama just needs to step back and realize what a great opportunity Texas offers them instead of worrying about Auburn

Won't ever happen.

As as to the guy that said 75% of instate recruits to bama every year and something about denial, last year AU/Bama split the state 50/50 or AU was 60/40 over bama (as far as the top 10 recruits go).

ETA: AU signed the top 3 recruits in Alabama last year. Calloway was number 4 and flipped. AU and Bama each signed 4 of the top 10 and 2 went out of state.

In 2010, AU signed 4 and bama 5 and UF 1.

Under Chiz, the instate recruiting is 50/50 for the top players.

God forbid I should question the authority of an unnamed source, but I think if you've kept an eye on this realignment bullshite from the start, you've seen one common theme from our camp- Alabama wants to keep both the AU and UT games. Alabama doesn't have to worry about recruiting right now.
