Once again with this academic argument that I do not understand. Is Texas going to get more money for research by being in the Pac-10? They are in the Big 12 right now, which isn't that strong academically, and Texas seems to be doing alright. I truly don't get this academics argument and wish that someone would explain it to me.

Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU)

Without knowing the ranking system (might explain some rankings) that's a terrible list, FWIW.
+1

If the Big 10 is splitting up research dollars, wouldn't Texas only get more revenue assuming that they bring in less than the average Big 10 school?

Sorry, but that list is aweful. The US News and World Report is actually a legit one that is pretty consistant with others. The one cited has Baylor as unranked when they are easily a top acedemic institution in the Big 12

Another vague statement that I don't understand.

This has nothing to do with academics. Nothing. Once again, Texas was quite content being in a sh1tty academic conference for as long as the Big 12 has existed. And they were fine allowing a good football player that would eventually lead their team to a NC show that academics are so important as his wonderlic score was borderline Peter Griffin.

I could not agree more.

Yeah, and I may be kind of biased, but LSU is not close to the level ND is, and the ARWU has them at the same level (no disrespect intended, Tiger fans

Also, I used the Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU) because it is the most used university ranking system in the world.
And it's complete bullshite. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois ahead of Northwestern??
You used it because it fits your argument.

I don't think so. He could have used the USNWR rankings and gotten the exact same thing he was looking for (PAC 10's much better than the SEC in the academic department). I think he did use it cause it's the "most cited" or whatever, like he said, I just think it's completely stupid that it is the most cited, since it's a terrible list, with terrible criteria.
