re: A&M Student "Section"

Been a while since my student days, but I believe that on the Friday before the game, unpulled tix are opened up for sale to students who don't have sports passes. Walk up sales on Saturday. You may see some empty corners on the Third deck. If there are a lot of no-shows or wussies leaving b/c of bad weather, students will migrate with the line of scrimmage.
If student attendance consistently slacks off, the AD would LOVE to convert another section to donors, but enough people wanted to keep the student side intact that new donor seating went into the Zone last time we expanded.
I think Big12 requires us to make 3,800 - 4,000 available to the visitors. Anyone know what the SEC rule is for visitor allotment?

Honestly, I don't know. I do know you can pay around 50-80 dollars (depending on the opponent) to get a "guest student ticket", which is basically a ticket in the student section for a non student. These must be purchased and pulled by someone with a football pass and I think the limit is 2 per pass. These are handy for A&M students who have friends from the other team that want to sit in the student section.
I also think you can get a walk up ticket the day of if you don't have a football pass but have a student ID and there are non pulled tickets in the student section. These also cost money I'm sure, I've always had a football pass.
If there are still some left after that they probably don't get used. I know from sitting in every area of Kyle Field that if attendance is lacking for some reason, it is usually in the alumni or guest sides, not the student side.

PowerTool, I don't know what is required but it appears the SEC sets aside 7,500 for visitors.
And I've never seen the third deck so empty that the students migrated with the LOS except for Tx State in 05. But that game was moved to a Thursday in a hurry and people were evacuating for a hurricane (Rita)

It happened against Fresno St. in either 06 or 07. Was 109 degrees and the game went to overtime after the ags blew a 20 point half time lead.
The students migrated from 20 to 20 yelling while the bulldogs were on Offense.
We ended up winning that game.

Only happened once or twice during my student days. Kind of a natural thing, since the kind of people who will stick thru bad weather are the kind of people who will move with the line of scrimmage if they can.
That's pretty much the only advantage of benches over armchairs.

So what happens to the tickets that aren't pulled for a certain game? Say like versus Vanderbilt or a cream puff like Georgia St? Do those get sold to the public on a week by week basis since for bigger games like against UT more tickets get pulled?
I don't think too many people want bleacher seats where they can't sit down(No one sits down on the student side for the entire game.)
On those down games you are more likely to see the Zone(north side) emptier in the third deck.

Also they oversell for the student section for big games, you're basically just shoved in like cattle.

Explain oversell? Every student has an assigned seat number. The stadium fits X people. There are no general admission tickets and I'm pretty sure they don't renumber seats week to week.
The seats have (rumored) been renumbered over the years, but I think asses have just gotten bigger.
And The Zone isn't much better which is why I always get an aisle seat and can use half the stairway to stand in.

I guess oversell is the wrong term. They have overflow and add track seating, but everyone knows people get snuck in for the hour prior, its a poorly enforced system, and they are definitely over capacity. At least in my opinion.

The removable bleachers in the south end zone are student overflow. They will also put folding chairs on the track around the field. For the Nebraska game they sold an extra row in the back since no one sits anyway (1st row stands on cement, 2nd row stands on 1st rows seats, etc, etc, standing row has no seat but stands on last row of seats

Does aggy really have a track around the field? That's busch league. Yall are better than that.

There's still a track type surface, but it obviously isn't the official track and it mostly acts as the bench area on the sideline and the buffer between the stands. If it were to be used as an actual NCAA track I'm pretty sure it's nowhere close to regulation size. It's just leftover from long ago

Hope you were stoned when you posted that.

Has seating expansion in the empty endzone ever been considered? Is it possible?
Posted on 8/26/11 at 12:11 am to droman225
They've got limited bleacher seating there now. I'd imagine it will be enclosed if we join the SEC.

I'm sure you know why its still there, but anyways, the Corps uses it for their march ins.
