Good god, I can just imagine you sitting there for the last 45 minutes with 17 Google Maps windows open furiously trying to figure out the distances, yet you still failed to compare it to how far we traveled before. Even though none of it fricking matters in the first place.

But seriously, I want a fully detailed comparison of the travel distances in the SEC for us compared to what they will be in the Big 12 this year. Back to work, chop chop.

The A&M move to the SEC, if it happens, has the potential to hurt Arkansas recruiting of Texas High School players. Currently they use the, "come to Arkansas and play in the SEC" recruiting slogan. That won't carry as much weight if and when A&M joins the SEC. However, if Bobby P can keep improving the UA program, the exposure from winning might be able to overcome A&M's claim that recruits can now stay home and play in the SEC. The effect on LSU should be less of an issue due to longer shared border and vast numbers of LSU Alum along the I-10 corridor from Sabine to Houston.
Regardless of effect, A&M to the SEC has the potential to be exciting if A&M finds the right Coach to take advantage of it huge resources. It's would seem A&M has the potential to be become a national power with the right coaches. Who knows, they may already have the right coaches. Time will tell.

Check over on Hogville.net I have 3 threads going including 2 on here and researching the map. It's interesting to know distances and travel costs.

You gentlemen just do not get it, I don't mine TAMU in the SEC but they will take a money hit to come over. That is fine with me it's good for Arkansas.

Does anybody know a good travel agent?

I'm looking to maximize my reward miles and need someone to over-analyze a bunch of insignificant numbers and extrapolate a bunch of useless data that doesnt really pertain to anything

Thanks in advance

Complete opposite.

Any publicity is good publicity. Kids in Texas don't even remember the SWC and Arkansas.

Arkansas used to have all conference linemen from Houston year after year because of Arkansas exposure in Texas.

Newspapers in Dallas and Houston along with TV shows highlighting Arkansas is a large win.

Arkansas is the 2nd SEC school closest to Dallas.
Arkansas is the 3rd SEC school closest to Houston

Oversigning has been capped and you can only sign 25 players with 80 kids from Louisiana playing D-1 and 325 kids from Texas playing D-1 plenty of talent.

You diminish the appeal of the Big12 and kids are likely to head East.
It's a large win for Arkansas.

Calculating costs is smart I'm just showing TAMU will lose money in the short terms a few years to hope for a large return in the future.

this thread is mind numbing

at the end of the day:

-it's going to happen, A&M will join the SEC
-A&M and the rest of the SEC will be better off financially for it
-SunHog is disturbingly bad at e-arguing
-SunHog's inability to quote correctly is annoying

Highlighting the entire post is better for the readers who are joining the thread plus it's quicker with 2 clicks.

TAMU is going to lose some money in order to go to the SEC and it helps Arkansas, I like that a lot.

Sun, in the SWC days you played every conference road game in Texas. Now you will have one. The same game you already have in Dallas. I don't see A&M to the SEC improving Arkansas recruiting at all actually.

I see it helping A&M and LSU recruiting while hurting tu and OU slightly.

Perhaps, Arkansas can have some of those 5.7's that A&M, LSU, OU, and tu pass over

Sounds like Sun Hog has got his panties in a wad because being in the SEC is the only thing that Arky could hold over A&M since Arky joined the SEC, since A&M has been a much better program in that time. If A&M joins the SEC, rky may move from 7th to 8th est program. A comparison since arky joined:

Aransas

Overall Record 127-101-2
Winning Percentage- 55.7
Bowl Games- 10
10 win seasons- 1
Conference championships- 0
Top 25- 4
Top 15- 2
Top 10- 0

Texas A&M
Overall Record 147-86-1
Winning Percentage 63.1
Bowl Games- 13
10 win seasons- 4
Conference championships- 3
Top 25- 8
Top 15- 5
Top 10- 3

It doesn't look much different than driving.

TAMU is going to pay a lot more.

Dude, you can't seriously be this slow.

TAKE A&M'S SCHEDULE FROM LAST YEAR, TOTAL UP THEIR CONFERENCE ROAD GAME MILES, THEN DO IT AGAIN FOR THIS YEAR, THEN TOTAL UP THEIR THEORETICAL ROAD GAME MILES FOR SEC14 WITH TRIPS TO LSU, VT ARKANSAS, AND AUBURN.

For fricks sake, I'm showing you how to make a solid argument here and based on the A&M 2010 schedule it probably will help make your point, but you're too stupid to realize it.

2010: @OK State @Kansas @Baylor @Texas
2011: @TTech @Iowa State @Oklahoma @KState
2012: @LSU @Virginia Tech @Auburn @Arkansas

Add up the miles for each, divide by 4.

For further data for your argument, stop comparing A&M drive distance for SEC destinations to the distances of LSU and Arkansas--IT'S NOT frickING RELEVANT! Compare their travel distance from college station to the nine other remaining Big 12 schools to the distances for driving from college station to the 12 current SEC schools plus Blacksburg, VA. Divide the the first number by 9 and the second number by 13, and voila you have average drive distance.

frick!

careful, he gets sweet on those who are "emotional"

plus, if you highlight his entire post from top to bottom, then he's going to do it in return for no good reason, and then, where does it end?

TAMU: Over time you will steal the spotlight from TU, whether they are independent or not. Your branding w/ LSU, Bama, AU, Fla, Tenner,UGA etc. coming into College Station will increase dramatically. Recruits will notice! They will see every game, every week on TV.

You've already broken records on season ticket sells "on anticipation" of joining the SEC, per AM spokesperson.

Arkansas could not fill a 50,000 seat stadium just a 15 years ago. Now we can fill a 70,000+ stadium consistently.

Having said that, AR and LSU will be the primary beneficiaries of your entrance into the SEC!

There is almost zero press on Arkansas in Dallas and Houston now that will change and help Arkansas. The SEC Branding in Texas helps Arkansas.

The Dallas game has helped our presence in Texas that's the reason I'm stating. It's a good thing.

It doesn't seem to matter who TAMU recruits we still beat you guys.

I'm glad you're sticking it to Texas. You seem to forget how close North Texas is to Arkansas.
