Seems as we near the finish line, the tier 2 crowd is pulling out front. Napier, Aranda, Campbell, Tucker..These are the names that seem to be in the “realistic” category in the final stretch.
My question is: Are we seeing this because, well, this was what was going to happen get your head out of the sand did you really expect a giant splash hire???
Or is this part of the plan. Final push for the white wale is under way so the distractors are out in full force. In woody we trust. Splash hire?

Everybody assumed he would repeat the Mulkey hire but there's no elite coach out there at odds with their administration and wanting to move back home to Louisiana. If not for those extenuating circumstances he wouldn't have pulled Mulkey either.
Same with Jimbo. Woodward had an open checkbook right when Jimbo had burned all his bridges in Tallahassee and was looking to get out of town. He's not a coach whisperer. He's been the beneficiary of a couple of black swan events. No black swan is flapping it's wings this time.

He did legitimately pull Chris Petersen and Jay Johnson is a big name in baseball circles.
Circumstances have to be there of course, but regardless there’s no reason to believe he won’t be able to get the best “available” coach he can get.

That is a pretty fair assessment. How do you know there is no black swan out there? You won't know until this search is done.

Hire Freeze! He’s better than the Tier 1 guys and leaps and bounds better than the rest. Hire that man and call it a day.
