TYKE TOLBERT
Wide Receivers Coach
7th YEAR IN NFL/6th WITH BILLS
COACHING EXPERIENCE: Has tutored Lee Evans to become one of the most prolific receivers in team history through his first five seasons…Evans has more receiving yards, is tied for the most receiving TDs and has the second-most receptions than any Bills receiver through his first five seasons…he also has six 70-plus yard TD receptions, a team record and the most in the NFL since 2000…WR Josh Reed posted his third 50-catch season in 2008 while Roscoe Parrish continues to be a threat to score any time he catches the ball…Tolbert has also been instrumental in the continued development of James Hardy, who made the winning TD catch at Jacksonville in Week 2 in 2008…in 2007 Evans became the first receiver with back-to-back 50-reception seasons since Eric Moulds (1998-2005) while in 2006 Evans continued his tremendous improvement while working with Tolbert in posting the most prolific receiving day in team history with 265 yards against Houston in week 11…in 2005 Evans finished second in the NFL with seven receptions for 40-plus yards…directed veteran Eric Moulds in recording his eighth consecutive 50+-reception season in ‘05…showed the ability to develop young talent when he arrived in Buffalo in 2004 as Evans led NFL rookies and set a Buffalo rookie record with nine TD receptions…Evans also led NFL rookies with a 17.6 yards per catch average... under Tolbert’s tutelage, Cardinals rookie receiver Anquan Boldin earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2003 and was the only rookie to make the Pro Bowl…Tolbert guided Boldin to an NFL rookie reception mark with 101 catches for 1,377 yards.
PERSONAL: Born in Conroe, Texas …holds bachelor and master degrees from LSU where he was a three-year letterman at wide receiver for the Tigers. Tolbert and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Morgan and Madison.
