Will any major candidates reach out to LSU?

If LSU really is a top 10 coaching job, then surely this has happened or will happen. Even if LSU has an obvious target like Jimbo.

I still believe LSU is one of the best coaching jobs in the country. IMO, this will be the best case scenario if Jimbo or Herman say no. Or even if they say yes. Every year it seems that a big time name pops up out of nowhere to take a college coaching job that is a total surprise.

So who here really is in the know? Has this happened yet?

LSU will reach out to them IF Alleva is doing his job.

No.

This is LSU's job to recruit a new coach.

This isn't anywhere close to true.

You are never surprised by a hire?

They already have. Just because LSU is doing it right this time and not leaking info doesnt mean nothing has been going on.

I dunno. I feel like we're giving too much credit to Joe Alleva, who seemed perfectly content to just give the job to Orgeron before yesterday. We're probably in trouble.

No disagreement here at all.

My statement did not suggest that we weren't.

I feel like he's been slow playing the search, hopeful that the fan pressure to hire O would justify him doing it (I think Herman caught onto this when Miles was first fired and he took his name out of consideration. That's why we haven't heard much about him). Now that that's not the case, he's going to have to pay out the arse to get a good coach. Otherwise, he's headed to the unemployment line and should be anyway with the way he has handled things.

For all of you who are sure that Alleva is incapable of successfully making this hire. Maybe we should fire him now and then get a good AD and then work on a HC. Jesus, just let the man do his job. His only job since week 3 has been to find a coach. Trust no matter how inept he is, he is capable of handling this.

If you want to get real technical about it he probably should never have gotten the job in the first place, after that shitshow that went on at Duke under his watch. He has a proven track record of incompetence.

Outside of all that, he's made 1 good hire since he's been here and it's a softball coach.

I think if the administration learned anything last year, it's to not allow/be more strategic with leaks. It has been pretty quiet compared to last year's debacle. No one "seems" to know anything.

Ok, you're right then. Let's fire him and get a new AD. This wouldn't frick our coaching search up at all...
Ya'll are bitching about idiotic things that you can't do anything about and will only disrupt the search. It's mind blowing the lengths our fans will go to just to be unhappy.

What I say on this message board has no bearing on anything and I'm not under some weird assumption that it does. It's just my opinion. I think he's incompetent and has proven to be incompetent.

Hopefully Alleva was just making Coach O think he was a serious candidate to keep the team on track. He will have had more time to work on getting a coach than most ADs do-8 extra weeks in season. His hiring track record is not great, but he may not be calling all the shots on this one, even if he says he is. I think most fans just want a great defense (which we have) and a normal offense-the ability to run and pass anywhere on the field without everyone holding their breath. Just someone to put our great athletes in good positions. I'm tired of losing games when we give up 1 TD.
