Does anyone know the substance and nature of the feud between Carr and Miles? There is no question that Carr does not want Miles to get the job -- ergo the announcement now, which he knows puts Miles in an impossible circumstance. But what exactly happened between these two? Did Carr walk in on Kathy Miles naked? Vice-versa?

1. Carr was unhappy that Miles kept recruiting Jai Eugene after he committed to Michigan.

2. Many in Michigan were upset Miles voted Florida ahead of Michigan at the end of the 06 season.

Maybe if they had beaten Ohio St. they wouldn't have had anything to complain about.

He's just a crybaby.

I heard it goes back far longer than that. When Carr was promoted to head coach after Moeller's drunken tirade, did Miles leave UM immediately?

I believe Miles left Michigan right before Moeller resigned. I could be wrong though.

Yes, Les and 43 other coaches. If that is the reason for animosity, then Lloyd Carr is an idiot. Carr must not like any of the other coaches that voted for UF either, considering UF was coming in off of victories and UM was sitting around for 2 weeks, doing nothing, and had lost their last game.

I asked this on the UM boards, and they're saying that Miles was on Gary Moeller's staff, along with Carr, and that when Carr was hired as HC, Miles either voluntarily left, or was "asked" by Carr to go. No question there's some veddy, veddy, baaaad blud between the two.

Miles telling recruits that Carr had a life threatening disease?

quote:

Definitely started when they were UM assistants, but I have no details. Personality conflict has been suggested by some, they just didn't get along. When Carr was named HC, Miles bailed. Coincidence?
Recruits over the last 3-4 years have told UM coaches that Miles was telling them that Lloyd had a life threatening disease and may not be around long.

I don't buy the Jai Eugene theory, Jai had a son in LA and wanted to be near him. This is a situation that Lloyd would understand and bear no grudge for, IMO.

When Carr was promoted, the story goes Miles felt like he should be considered for the OC position. Carr kept Moeller's OC and Miles decided it was time to go. So he called Bob Simmons at Okie State and was hired as the OSU OC.
