I like how that is assumed. Their facilities are badly in need of renovation.

The word from experts on the coaching changes board is that Texas's facilities are "as good as Alabama's at worst."

Because they are Texas and Texas runs shite, yo.

That's their mentality. Y'all talk about the REC on thid board but the REC don't run shite compared to what the Texas boosters have control over. Plus the Texas boosters are childish enough to take their money and go home if the school dosen't do as they say.

What about a list of big "splash" hires in college football in the last 20 years? How many big name coaches have left their current job to go to another program?

I just don't think it's as simple as having money.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were as simple as the mindset being, "We're fricking Texas. We're the Joneses, and all the money that isn't up at the Vatican is here. We don't need to know 'how' to go about hiring a big name, we'll just make back door inquiries and state publicly that 'if we want so-and-so, we'll have him, because we're fricking Texas,' and they'll come running. It can't be harder than that, right?"

Unless an earthquake hit Austin recently, I don't see how that's accurate.

They renovate constantly and just updated the locker room and opened a new training facility.

Sounds like some Aggie propaganda to me.

It isn't propaganda, it is the truth. Recent recruits have commented on how much nicer A&M's weight room is than theirs. It isn't about facilities or money, it is that people see the cowhead and think they must have the best EVERYTHING. That is their greatest asset. Marketing.

That pic looked like it was from the seventies and it certainly doesn't look like this video.

A for effort from the Aggies, though.

That pic was taken 3 years ago. They still are working out in that room, which is underground in downtown Austin. Adding some backlights is putting lipstick on a pig.

It does look like the 70s, except for the (relative to the 70s) "state-of-the-art" CRT displays on those columns toward the center (kind of gives it an early 90s theme, don't you think?) and the treadmills, which at least look 21st century.

So wiping lipstick off the pig, you've got something which looks fresh out of the 70s which is being used today.

You have to admit it isn't a place for older folks. It is an extremely young town.

Perhaps read the first sentence.

If it's as simple as money, why isn't every big name coach waiting to line up outside the Texas AD office tomorrow morning for first shot at the job?
