Why do we just lose all context for big time programs and head coaches?

Seems like most are on the "sky is falling" bandwagon and keep mentioning how LSU is done, we're no longer elite, I even seen that we're no longer a top 25 program blah blah blah.

Name me all of the elite programs who have hired and/or had an elite coach with every hire in recent memory?

Bama - Before Saban, definitely not.
Ohio St - Luke Fickell
Michigan - Brady Hoke
Florida - They have a coach they got from, what, Colorado St?


Don't get me wrong, we fired Miles early in the season and ended up with O. There's no way to spin that into a positive, that did not work out well.

But it certainly doesn't signify the end of anything. Even if O doesn't work out just like some of those coaches above didn't, that doesn't mean we're done. Was Bama done after Price and Shula??? Nah, if O fails, we just move onto the next hire, it's just about a lot of timing and luck in terms of who is available and who is looking.
