I feel like it has to be Derek Mason (Vandy)

Perhaps Kevin Sumlin at Arizona?

They're sticking with em but it's amazing how short the leash
for a lot of P5 HC's.

20 years ago most these guys we always given a 4 year window to turn things around.Geez, now guys are getting canned after 2 and 3 years.

For the most part, you usually know by year 2 or 3 whether it’s going to work out. Of course, there are exceptions (must point this out for the people who will nitpick that statement) but by year 3, you’re playing with your recruits. If you can’t get out of a hole by the end of year 3, you’re probably not the right coach for that job.

One exception off hand: Jimbo Fisher and A&M should be better next year. They were dealt a vicious hand with the schedule this year. But if they’re 8-4 or 7-5 again next year, then you start asking some hard questions.

It is really strange, especially with the early signing period in effect. Hiring a new coach made recruiting hard enough when you had ~2 months to assemble a class; it absolutely kills the class when you have less than a month before 75% of the prospects are signed. Makes it almost impossible for a coach to get things going in his first couple years.
