He doesn't. It's the Qb play.

This. You can't be in the bottom 25 percentile of offense the last couple of years and keep your job at a school of LSU's magnitude. Period.

CROWTON will be GONE if the next 3 games the offense continues its sad trend of the last few seasons. BOOK IT!!!Administration will tell Les to send him packing! It happen to the defense a few years back and now its time to happen on the offense!!

7. Dana Holgorsen, Oklahoma State. Another in a long line of former Mike Leach assistants who have taken the original Hal Mumme offense and continued to build on the concept of short throws, multiple formations and multiple-option routes for receivers

Isn't this part of the problem we have now?
I think it makes it difficult to get the WR and QB on the same page and just adds to the confusion.
We need set routes and a balanced attack

NOT sure on that one. If anything, our WRs have regressed this year.

LSU are #5 with two weeks regular season and the conference playoffs yet to be played.

The next three weeks:

1. Ducks fall to 'Zona. LSU moves up to #4

2. Aubie falls to Bama and then again to Spurrier and USCe.

LSU moves up to #2 in the final vote, passing Boise and their #65 SOS (as Oregon State loses their 3rd in 4 weeks for a 7-5? or is it to be 6-6?, and Va Tech falls to Miami the U this week,
and LSU gets a berth in the champ game.

If LSU wins the BCS national championship, no one is going to make Les fire the OC.

Seems to me it's more ball catching. I don't have the exact stats but there have been way too many over the season.

Hey, it happens but not at the pace it happens on this team. Our receivers are (supposedly) too good for that.

I honestly think Les has already promised the job to Billy Gonzalez next year, after Crowton is allowed to accept another job somewhere else.

I'd go with Al Borges from SDSU. OC for AU under Tubs for the undefeated season in '04. Great with QB's, transformed Jason Campbell in his Sr year at AU. Knows the SEC and is a pro style coach who will be a long term OC like Chavis at DC. Not looking for a head coach gig.

Was one of the scapegoats for TT during the decline at AU. He got all you could get out of Brian Cox. Beat Bama all four years he was there.

We need somebody solid and pro style who can help our head guy for a number of years. Borges fits on all counts. His SDSU offense put up a bunch on that "great" TCU defense last week.

San Diego State scored three touchdowns in the final 16 minutes of the game, getting within 40-35 when Ryan Lindley threw two TD passes to Vincent Brown (33 and 35 yards) in less than two minutes. But after the final score with 4:50 left, Dalton and the Frogs ran out the clock.

Steve Logan is my top choice, and I think the most natural fit with Les (pro-style guy who has coached with Les before).

Holgorsen is a fantastic coach, not sure if he's a fantastic fit though.

Fit is more important IMO.

Dana Holgorsen has no peer in terms of fit and credentials.

Some key points about him:
-He has had tremendous success with three separate schools (in the last three years). His success has transcended one system or one group of personnel.
-He is single and lives out of a hotel, making many Oklahomans nervous about his long-term future.
-His style is a varistion of Leach's "air raid" that puts up insane passing statistics and relies on timing, accuracy and quick passes.
-Unlike Mike Leach (whom Holgorsen worked for), his offensive scheme has proven to be more malleable, and capable of using running backs effectively (Kendall Hunter this year, e.g.).
-There might be some vague spiritual connection between Holgorsen and Miles, having both coached for OK State

Here are three good articles about him and the possibility of him bolting OSU after a year:
Is Dana Holgorsen a short-timer with OSU
Gundy's priority is retaining Holgorsen
Great read on how Holgorsen adopted more of a rushing game at OSU

(1) a week or two ago on Leach's talkshow on Sirius, an LSU fan called in and said something like "please come coach my team." Leach said something like "if I go I would be the OC."

I take this to mean... "no chance in hell."

Leach won't take an OC gig. He's an established, successful head coach. He'll wait till a good enough job opens up.

Why wouldn't he leave the OC job at SDSU to come as OC at LSU?

Borges would not be a popular hire, but he'd be a damn good one.
