What exactly do we know?

Here are a few facts/foregone conclusions/opinions about the coaching circus.

1. Miles has to get the UM job. If they hire someone else consider the ramifications on the recruiting trail. Guys like Saban, Meyer, and Mack Brown would be all over Louisiana. Not getting the job and tying it into blowing a national title would be some serious ammo. I don't think Miles is good enough to recover from such a blow.
2. Greg Schiano, Jim Leavitt, Brian Kelly, Bill Cowher, Chris Peterson, Terry/Tommy Bowden, Rich Rodriguez will not be the next head coach. Neither will Ed Orgeron. If you suggested Ed Orgeron - yes it was posted - you have a lower wonderlick score then Vince Young.
3. Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban and Jack Del Rio are the 3 most common, consistent, names.
4. Nick Saban [u]does not have a buyout.
5. Spurrier has a year by year buyout. 250 grand per year, for every year remaining and pro-rated for his last year. A little over a million right now. LSU could use Miles' buyout to pay for Spurriers, thus making it a moot point.
6. I can't find anything on Del Rio's contract. However, he is in a playoff race and because of timing may be a longshot. He would have to have a Fat Charlie Weis - like agreement with the Jags and LSU.
7. Out of the 3 Saban is the best recruiter hands down. When SOS was at UF Zook - yes that Zook - and Stoops were the main recruiters. He has had some recent success at SC, but i'd still give Saban the nod.
8. The re-hire of Nick Saban does not have to be the PR nightmare fiasco many think it will be. If he steps to the plate and confesses his mistakes, he could get a pass. He would probably have to cry to sell it.
9. This season, unless a miracle happens, will be remembered not by wins and losses but by Miles, Michigan, and whoever the next head coach will be.
10. I am completely dissillusioned with my job and spend too much time obsessing over coaching scenarios.
