I love this line of thinking.

If we can do so much better...why the hell didn't we?

Chavis leaving to go to UGA would NOT be a good thing. The grass isn't always greener. Remember when Bo left and everyone was singing and dancing b/c we could go out and hire the greatest coordinator in the history of the earth now that the weak link Pelini was gone and we were the mighty LSU who could hire anyone away from anywhere? How'd that work out again?

Some of you people really are clueless.

Thats the problem. Its not that LSU cant go out and hire a good aggressive defensive coordinator. It comes down to Les Miles' decision. First of all , there was much talk when he was first coming here of him bringing Bill Clay with him ffrom Okie State who ran basically the same defense as Lou Tepper. supposedly forced to bring in someone else and he brings in Bo Pelinni and after watching Nebraska quite a few times this year and especially last night , obviously Bo runs a much more aggressive defense than what he was allowed to run at LSU. Then Miles makes the great decision on Bradley Dale Peveto and Doug Mallory as co defens coordinators and we all know how that worked out. Even Peveto was more aggressive at Northwestern La than he was at LSU which leads me to believe that once again Miles is meddling in the defens. Ill give Miles a pat on the back for chavis hire, not great but at least better thatn the year before. 3rd downs still kill me , especially 3rd and long. It beats all that ive seen. so in sum , I would worry tremendously on Miles next hire for a defensive coordinator.

Agreed.

Our defense was good this year. Even more so when you consider that it was utterly craptastic the year before.

Nonetheless, there are those who like to whine, bitch, and moan.

I am worried. Chavis was an upgrade from the previous two Co-coordinators for sure, and I was generally happy with his scoring defense. Do I think LSU could do better? Probably but don't have faith Miles can or will. If Chavis goes to UGA, there will be a very short window to make a hire. I worry a helluva lot about what Miles would do should Chavis bolt.
