no, you can make new rules preventing that, much like basketball prevents it with the 3-second in the lane rule.

Or an offsides rules similar to hockey to prevent that, but once the ball's in the zone, it's wide open.

really bad example.

The better example to compare soccer to football -- the QB can't release the pass to a receiver that's already behind the defense. Imagine how absurd that would be in football.

We'll, that's how it is in soccer, and it's just plain silly.

But you soccer fans think the soccer rules were carved in stone on Mount Sanai.

Other sports tweak their rules to improve the game. Soccer should too.

Or letting WR's get a running start prior to the snap. My guess is that Klinsmann could not get the US team to play with the same BRUTAL discipline that the German teams display.
