My friend thinks it was classless of Michigan to request to speak to Miles before the game, meaning the action of simply asking for permission from the AD 4 days before the game, even if he waited until Sunday. Do you agree?

If the speaking to the players post is true, then said speaking must have taken place before the request was made.

I'm saying simply asking - not if he did go through with it, etc. simply bill martin calling up LSU's AD and asking to be allowed to speak to Miles

I don't think it was classless. He didn't even have to ask. There have been a lot shadier things done in the hiring world too.

It's irrelevant if the deal had already been made.

I think it was. I just don't understand their reasoning other than to screw with us. What difference does 4 days make?

Maybe I'm jaded, but in today's world not sure if class really matters much.

I do think that with some of the isolated events (i.e. request to speak, carr stepping down when he did) points to a fairly loose ship.

I would agree to a point, but I wouldn't put it way out there on the scale of classless stuff to do.

Obviously Miles is not a threat to go anywhere but Michigan, so waiting until Sunday to request permission would have been best.

But in today's college football world, so many things can get so out of hand quickly, waiting seems to allow too much room for rampant BS speculation that could damage a potential relationship.

Not enough to lose any sleep over.

when carr quit?

did you not see his press conference? he quit when he did FOR the program and give the next coach the opportunity to do the home visits. to stick around he would have either had to neglect recruits or waste the visits by saying hello when he wasnt even going to be the coach. i dont get that comment at all.

Sir, with all due respect, you have only 2 days and 12 posts worth of experienced rantardship here in La.

ANYTHING Carr did was designed specifically to put the maximum screws to LSU.

Just wait till he replaces Holtz on ESPN and has a 4 hour daily audience to disrespect us to the nation.

Not a very considerate move by UM. I expect more from a classy and traditional program such as theirs.

Perhaps I am looking too much from an LSU perspective, but I thought he was applying pressure on Miles. Miles reacted as if he believed the same thing.

do you know anything about Carr and Miles? Miles is Carr's LAST pick. he does NOT want Miles. Carr is not pulling any screwjob on LSU whatsoever. your implication is actually funny. he hates Miles.

I fully believe he did it with the best intentions of his program. Miles is the last person Carr wants to take over - hence all the Ferentz talk.

Oh I know - my post was really pointing fun at our catastrophe syndrome fan base that thinks any ommission of good lsu news or slight mention of bad lsu news is proof the world is out to get us.

Can't Miles' agent talk to UM whenever he wants and get around all the "courtesy" crap??
