Alabama spent a record $7.3m on the 2016 playoff games. The expense allowance for national championship travel from the conference is about $2.5m. All other payouts received are split evenly with the conference.

It is an unquestionable fact that teams often spend more than they receive from these games. Not sure why you're trying to argue otherwise on a pretty obvious point.

No, but Herman might say "Penn St. is willing to make it $6 million so are you going to pay me $7?"

He might say that but he also might not. He has leverage but the numbers youre throwing out there are the highest in the league.

quote:

What Saban makes is irrelevant. He could demand $10 tomorrow and get it if he had other suitors.

What he makes is relevant. He is the top dog and deserves every penny. No coach has the leverage to go in and demand more than what he gets. Lets say we offer Herman 6 million a year with bonuses that could make it 6.5 to 7 with an sec championship and playoff appearance. He is looking at that offer very hard and not even thinking of raising it.

Often the billionaires don't make the final decision, the presidents do and they are a conservative bunch.

So why is it that everyone brings up the billionaire in Houston like he is just going to outbid and bankroll whatever it takes to match LSU/USC/Texas?

If he isnt calling the shots, like so many hint, he could be worth 100 billion and it wouldnt matter.

Yet none of these facts make your profit higher. And that's what this post is about. Qualify it all you want, but we are higher than you on the list and this has really riled you up! What a freaking loser!

It's pretty common knowledge that several programs have actually lost money after attending the NC game recently.

Again. Congrats on being poor and spending $23 million less than Alabama.

It'll probably be your biggest victory this season.

national championships=enrollment goes up, more interest in the program, donors donate more to a team that is winning it all.

in the long run, no one is losing money from winning the national championship

Not at all, this whole thing was a troll for the stupid BAMA fans - and of course you proved your ignorance and childishness by doing exactly what you always do. You cannot stand LSU outranking you on anything! Pathetic!

I wish UGA would spend about 5 million more a year on football.

Herman has the leverage to get $1 more than the loser for his services is willing to pay. Nothing more or nothing less.

What Saban makes doesn't matter for that negotiation. Will LSU walk away if someone makes the number go too high if they think he is their guy because "he doesn't deserve to be making Saban money?" No way.

You can't deny the benefits of it. Alabama is rolling. L5U? Not so much.

But, hey, they got that big profit out of it!!

You win. L5U spends less money much better than Alabama. Are you happy now?

They are going to throw $5 million per at Herman and give him a huge pool of money to put together his staff.

Then all they're going to do is get Herman a nice raise and save him some moving expenses. He's already getting $3M. Especially if Houston ends up headed to the Big 12, and if they get in the CFP this year, you can forget about Herman for $5M.

And this isn't Gump talk. This is your buddy Tim Brando 30 minutes ago.

Alabama just makes stupid decisions. Just think...our profit margin could have been a little higher if we hadn't thrown a shitload of money at Scott Cochran to keep you guys from getting him.

Here are the facts from the OP:

quote:

Profit margins ranked by school:

1. Texas $92 million

2. Tennessee $70 million

3. LSU $58 million

4. Michigan $56 million

5. Notre Dame $54 million

6. Georgia $50 million

6. Ohio State $50 million

8. Oklahoma $48 million

9. Auburn $47 million

LSU is third in profit margin at $58 million.

Aren't you the one who's saying LSU is poor? Aren't you the one pointing out that successful schools have to spend too much money on bowl games to have high profit margins? Look at the list again and tell me they're all poor losers who don't make bowl games.

The point of the OP is to show that the LSU AD has the money to spend on a top notch coach, and you post:
quote:

50-25-5.

THAT'S why you look like an idiot.

Anyone can post facts, "The Earth is an oblate spheroid". There, see?

The trick is posting relevant facts in the context of the discussion...

...and you lose.

But on the bright side, you a fan of a winning team, so you have that going for you.
