ANyone else think this is who they land?

No. It sends the wrong message to recruits to hire someone as a HC who was just fired by a school for failing to win championships.

But he is a coach who has won a lot of football games... Maybe Miss. State should aim a little lower....like winning football games?

I don't think he's their guy, but Mississippi State is hardly in a position to turn away coaches whose main flaw is not winning a championship.
When a Liberty Bowl victory turns around your program so much that your coach wins SEC Coach of the Year, you should probably aim a little lower and settle for someone who can win 8 games a year and compete with or beat Ole Miss

Obviously, they are not going to get Urban Meyer. But I think that there are enough good assistants out there or coaches in smaller conferences ready to move up that they can take a chance on one of those and come out looking better than they would if they hired Bowden.
Really, what would it say to the fan base and recruits if, when LSU was hiring Miles, they went after a coach that had been fired from another school that same season. There are better routes for a BCS school.
If Bowden wants to keep coaching he needs to move to a smaller conference or become a coordinator at another school, have a couple of good years and then move back up.

Terry would have a fit if that happened. Hell Terry would probably call MSU and say "whatever he's asking, I'll coach for half of that."

Terry did that when they were doling out height.

My money would be on Dooley

More incentive for an 'up and coming' coach, like Dooley, although Jackie did have some good years before the bottom fell out...

Bowden couldn't win in the ACC with top 10 recruting classes. How's he going to win the SEC with no athletes?
