Most interested in opinions on this hire from UGA fans but anyone with any insight or opinions are welcome.

Seems to be a solid hire, No nonsense guy. Good recruiter.

Loved him when he was running the ball at UGA ... well, it was a love hate relationship because he scorched us but he was a helluva talent to watch.
quote:

“Thomas is an accomplished running backs coach who has done a great job at multiple spots, including Wisconsin, Georgia and Miami,” coach Will Muschamp said in a release. “He’s an outstanding young football coach, having been a coordinator at Miami, and is an outstanding recruiter. We are excited to have him part of the Gamecock family.”

Under Mark Richt at Miami, Brown was offensive coordinator and running backs coach. He was not retained by Manny Diaz after Richt stepped down to retire from coaching. Brown and Gamecocks offensive coordinator Bryan McClendon were teammates at Georgia and both served on Richt’s UGA staff in 2015. Before Georgia, he had coached at Chattanooga (2012), Marshall (2013) and Wisconsin (2014).

“I’m excited about the opportunity,” Brown said. “I have great respect for Coach Muschamp – I’ve known him for a long time. Obviously, I’ve been around Coach (Bryan) McClendon. We played together at Georgia and worked together for a year at Georgia, and always talked about having the opportunity to get back on the same side together. This is a great place and I’m looking forward to it.”

In 2018, Miami rushed for 2,489 yards, an average of 5.2 yards per carry and 191.5 per game. South Carolina rushed for 1,986 yards at a rate of 152.8 yards per game.

Miami just got new football digs including new locker rooms and a football ops building.

Brown said it’s not even close ... he said the new football ops building and facilities at SC has everything he’s seen so far beat, hands down. Of course he’s not seen A&M’s or Bama’s or some others, but he’s seen UGA’s new facilities, Miami’s, Florida’s and Florida State’s among others.

That’s not a peen size comparison ... he made the comment because he believes it is going to help him recruit big time talent out of South Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and the Good Lord knows we need another big time RB or two or three.

He's a good coach and recruiter. When he was at UGA, he was like a less seasoned McClendon. He was one of the 3 members of Richt's staff that Smart wanted to retain, but he decided to follow Richt as his OC.

FWIW, I don't know if he's been to UGA since new facilities (IPF, new locker room) were completed. I don't know when he would have been there, at least.

I dunno. I can't remember it word for word but it was a live interview and he said he was there for a recent grand opening, named the guy the building was named after, former player, alum, banker or something like that, and he said something about buying a brick in the wall or something like that? Evidently a lot of former players showed up for the unveiling I guess.

All the new buildings, around d the league, are palaces though. It's a full blown arms race in this conference.
