Maybe they don't want him. Maybe the interview is actually Bill Martin telling Les personally, rather than lobbing it through the media, that he is not going to be the guy
Just so we're clear, you admit this is pure speculation on your part, right?
What about the first post in this thread, which is quoting the Michigan Rivals site, I believe.

Impossible. According to my source, I'm too great to get over.....

I was not trying to start a big scuffle when I posted what I was trying to do was calm everyone down.. Michigan does not have a deal with Miles, they have not offered him the job.. they have not contacted him directly.. I am sure they had a independent search firm contact his agent and gauge his interest before bothering to get permission to speak with him, but that just means that Les' agent told the independent firm that he would be interested, and everyone already knew that... Les will be interviewed soon I am sure.. He maybe hired by monday or tuesday but at this time everything is just speculation.
I am also sure that as soon as LSU knew that michigan would need a coach next season they contracted an independent search firm to start contacting people to see who is interested..
Pelinni I think might already have his deal, Osborne hasnt interviewed anyone since bo and is actually out recruiting now... that would make me believe his decision is made, and since Buffalo's season is over if it was Turner Gil he wouldn't have to wait to announce it..

If it is not public, then it is surely speculation. There is a lot to get settled with Les or any new coach. The world has changed since Bo, Mo and Lloyd were hired. Assts. actually expect to get paid today. And, Mich has not done that in the past. Lloyd, this spring got the first two year deal for his assts. to protect them when he left (not guarantee them a job, but provide a decent buyout so they could get reestablished if they were broomed by a new regime). The first for assts. ever at Mich.
Martin knows that he is not only hiring a new HC he is going to be paying prevailing wage for assts. too. That is something that any new coach is going to expect from Mich and Martin needs to see what he can do to keep it all within his resources.
The stadium overhaul with luxury boxes and some added seating will not be done for two years. Will the Admin let him run a deficit until that happens to get the coach they want?
Football guys would say hell yeah. Tree hugging regents (like there are at Mich) are not always so enthuastic.

Lauren Del Rio from the Reveille, 12/4/03. She was a senior then so shes no longer at LSU. Jack Del Rio adopted her when he married her mother. Not sure if either of his 2 other daughters are at LSU right now. Anything else?

That's what they are supposed to say. Someone shot from the grassy knoll, it just wasn't deemed fit for public consumption.

That quote is almost verbatim what Angelique Chengelis, Mich beat writer for the Detroit News said on the air last night. Don't believe for a second that Mich is including media in any of its discussions or plans. Or that post represents some insider's knowledge.
Heck, Lloyd told Martin and Coleman last Jan. he was retiring. Was that reported. No Lloyd leaving was and has been specualtion up until he stood at the podium and said it.
I can assure you Bill Martin is not talking even to his staff about this. There are no legit inside sources.
This is a media person taling in this post I am virtually 100% on that, and they are ones fanning the Miles to Michigan flames. I would have reservations about this post. It again assumes that Mich wanted Miles and Miles only, yet they just began their consideration of a list of candidates. The facts and timing do line up well.
If they wanted Miles they would have him. He wants to come, so why not just do the deal. If he passed muster and they can sell him to the Pres and Regents, it should be done. But too many "i's" are not dotted and too many "t's" are not crossed yet for this to be a done deal.

Great picture! I hope trublue or whoever was saying last night LSU isn't "known" or "respected" outside the deep south gets to see this! Or maybe she/he thinks those guys are just on vacation on the Miss. gulf coast!!!

Negotiations probably not but you'd have to be locked in a cellar to think they haven't made some back door inquiries to CYOA.

I never said LSU wasn't respected outside the south.. what I said was they aren't michigan outside the south and that is just a fact its not a knock on your school or your tradition.. its just the facts

I don't know why everyone is so incredulous that LSU hasn't done diddly squat yet to find a new coach if Miles leaves. That's exactly what happened when Saban gave us the extra special 2004 Christmas present, and is exactly how we wound up with this guy---->

Oh! So this FACT will be on record somewhere in the research department in my local public library? Please give the the source, so I check out the list of "Most Recognized College Fight Songs" and brush up for my next cruise!! I don't want to feel inferior just knowing the one from LSU and my undergrad. school! And FWIW, the Notre Dame fight song is probably MUCH more commonly known than Michigan's and I STILL wouldn't want to ask anyone to sing it in a bar!! If you really want to hang around here and troll for information, you certainly can...but there's no need to refer to your supposed superiority or notoriety!

sounds reasonable.
The Saban and Spurrier rumors sort of cancel each other out, and render each of them nonsensical ... I mean, what is the point ... Are BOTH Saban and Spurrier going to be coaching at LSU? If Spurrier is buying a house in BR, then doesn't that mean if Saban actually was in BR (and no doubt, to recruit for Alabama) that there is NO significance to him being there?
The Tuberville thing sounds plausible, but doesn't he have a huge buyout, and would LSU pay it?
