I dont think this guy is worn out. I still feel that he can recruit with the best of them. I just get the feeling that he is extremely frustrated over there at USC. I mean when we ran that fake field goal on him at home earlier in the year I remember telling people watching with me "I bet he is itching inside on being able to coach talent like LSU has". Then it hit me hmmmm Lombardi hired as new president of LSU. Carr was already looked at possibly retiring last year but went through with it this year. Now correct me if im wrong here but if I read this correctly between the lines, if Miles goes, I think Spurrier is going to be the next coach.
He still has the fire in his eyes and I would love to see him wear the LSU visor on the sidelines.
So thus here begins my push that if Miles does indeed leave, I want Spurrier bad bad bad. I think it would be a scary sight to see what he would do with RP at the QB position with all of this talent around him.

i think he is definitely on the top of the list, if not the top then in the top 3.
however, i think LSU looks to make a more long term hire.

No because by the time he is 72 we will have about 4-5 more NC's and he will want to retire anyways. So you are asking would I take Saban with that attachment. hmmmmm I guess but what is really in that guys head?

He's my first choice too.
He's still got a good 5 to 7 years left in him, he can still recruit, can still run a mean Offense if with talent, and LSU's cupboard is loaded with skill talent, and La always churns it out yearly.
SOS desperately wants to be able to go head-to-head vs Fla yearly with equal or similar talent.
And Fulmer has now appeared to salvage his job, regardless of whether they blow at UK this week or not, thus no possible return to his birth state for SOS..
An existing SEC HC is my first preferance for new hire if the job opens, as LSU had a learning curve the first year with both Saban and Miles, and yet LSU will still be loaded for an BCS title run yet again next Fall..
Sexton represents Spurrier, Saban, and Tuberville..they already know the SEC via two stops in their divisions, they know it's coaches, their tendencies, the stadiums, the current players, the refs, the nuances..big edges exist in getting an current SEC HC...huge despite Saban & Miles instant rolls at LSU, and Meyer's relatively instant success at UF.

I would enjoy the press conferences that Spurrier Gives. He always has a mouthful to share with everyone. Florida is also LSU's Permanent East Opponent.
Spurrier's Buyout of 2 million instantly becomes $750k due to Miles Buyout.
Spurrier and Tubbs are arrogant and confident in their abilities...Miles is too, just not as overtly flamboyant. Miles is subtle in his taunts, Spurrier just flat out calls people out.
All that being said...I still would have a hard time accepting Spurrier- a man whose teams destroyed LSU. In Spurrier it is all business, kind of like the Mafia. So, I could stomach it. His age is a consideration though that cannot be ignored.
Tubberville is a snake, but most coaches are by the time they reach this level. Tubberville has been on both sides of sketchy behavior, receiving and giving. I don't know if I am over the Ramsey deal with Tubbs, I believe it was a dirty shot called for by the coach. It certainly wasn't punished.
Tubbs seems to be underhanded in a Saban-Kind-of-Way...That USF loss really concerns me with Tubbs.
