"Intelligence" is a strange thing to measure, it's never a safe bet. Alleva could be a genius who makes dumb decisions, these people do exist. He could also be an idiot who makes great decisions to get where he is. It all depends on the type of intelligence you want to measure. He also, might, just be fantastic with the people around him, and that's where his success lies.

One thing is clear about Alleva though, he really lacks critical thinking when faced with complex decisions and this rings true throughout his LSU tenure and prior to it. You can't look at the O hiring process and think "Yes, he's automatically intelligent."
