The loser in all of this is Tom Herman. He lost all leverage when LSU told him to frick off.

I really hate coming to Alleva's defense but he tried to fire Miles last year but couldn't and it wasn't his fault. But he gets blamed.
He doesn't out bid Texas, which he can't, and he gets blamed.
He can't FORCE Fisher to come here but somehow it is his fault that he didn't force Fisher to come here.
CEO is the third choice for HC who is in the bag already but somehow we should have listened to a crap ton of other coaches that had no shot.
Alleva doesn't drag out the process making Orgeron look like an oh shite hire when we have no chance at outbidding Texas but idiot think we should have pursued that to the bitter end.
