Along with his complex system, his main problem is getting hyper aggressive on defense at the most inopportune times and going for the homerun all out blitz when it just isnt necessary. He cost us several michigan games, the georgia playoff game and almost cost us the notre dame national championship game with his shite.
And he absolutely hates recruiting. His system requires very specific players but we won't help you bring them in. Tell me how much sense that makes.

Knowles’ system is complex and requires more than one year to fully implement. It would’ve been interesting to see how Penn State’s defense might have looked in year two
I like him, but this doesn’t synergize well with the current landscape of CFB.
He would be great fit for the NFL or an outlier like IU or Vandy where they actually still build their teams with program guys.
One of the biggest reasons Kiffin has found so much success in this era is that he uses a base offense that simplifies everything for everyone — but stitches in enough full-field and pro concepts that his guys still properly develop / don’t get gimped transitioning to the next level.
TLDR a happy medium — his offenses don’t shy away from complexity, but they also do not revolve around it.
It’s truly a different game in this league these days.

Yeah, not sure its gonna work if it takes 2-3 years to implement. Rosters turnover alot more now and knowles isnt exactly young. Feels like this may not work
I wouldn't bet against Jim Knowles.
He is getting older and hates recruiting. Stuck in his ways type of coach. He will improve Tennessee imo.
