Hearing that Kevin Sumlin will be the next Arizona State head coach. Would be surprised if a deal isn't done in very short order.

Am told the speculation about Kevin Sumlin to #ASU being a done deal is completely false. Source has told me there has been no contact between ASU & Sumlin or anyone who represents him.

But wait.

The completely objective Bruce Feldman says otherwise.

Lower expectations, lesser competition, new facilities, 6th largest city in US, 10 minutes from major airport, etc.
House in Scottsdale or Paradise Valley as opposed to College Station.
Able to leave the Cult.
Hard to feel sorry for him.

Lower expectations

For the money they will have to pay, they will expect more than 6-7 win seasons and the occasional 10-win season. They certainly expect more than losing to the San Diego States and the Texas Techs of college football (which is what did Graham in)

So he's not going to ASU. Just trying to stir up activity for his friend Sumlin.

Horrible hire. Sumlin is not a good coach.

Seems like a decent fit. ASU could get him fairly cheap in the early going, assuming Sumlin could still collect some buyout.

He certainly has his flaws, but he is not horrible. He’s been a HC for 10 seasons. He’s only had 1 losing season and averaged nearly 9 wins/season.

I think ASU and Sumlin are a good fit. His Texas recruiting ties will help also.
