Spurrier and Saban.

I would rather have Saban back than SOS.

1. Spurrier does not like to recruit. His dropped off after Zook left.
2. He doesn't really train qbs. His system is about WR's getting to a spot. The SEC was catching up to his system when he left UF. The defenses are more sophisticted now than in 1999. No one really ran the kind of defense Saban ran once he got his recruits and other tough defenses like TT's. I think he would have a harder time running that offense.
3. Somewhat lazy. He played golf on draft day. NO ONE plays golf on draft day. and the results showed it as well.
4. He does keep boosters in line and is control of his program. ....and when he looks at leaving he doesn't do it or let it be known during championship week.

Saban.

1. Defense. we know what the D will be like.
2. Discipline. Just as tough as SOS. and these guys need it.
3. I think that if he came back, the huge buyout would be more of a show of good faith to me than anything else would be. If he showed some geniune contrition or respect for the fans here, I think he could win the crowd back. Remember, Polk came back to MSU and he did ditch them.
4. Assistant coaches. THAT would be the problem for me. He is a jerk to them and has high turnover. Had a hard time getting them to Bama and his staff sucked. TM would probably leave. However, I think Saban would have the sense to keep Crowton.
5. Recruiting. He loves to recruit and is good at it. would have no worried there.
6. Fans. If he won big, they would get over it.

I'd take Saban over SOS.
