LSU DB's coach is a better job than aTm DC.

I don't see him leaving.

DC at most AQ schools is better than a position coach at LSU.

I can't see him being their DC. They're going to probably go with somebody more proven. Either way, I think Cooper will get the raise he well deserves at LSU. I remember hearing awhile back Cooper really doesn't like Chavis. I have no idea how true that is though.

Not if you're going to epic fail at the former and succeed drastically at the latter.

A DC is a step up from position coach no matter how you spin it. If he doesn’t have motivation and confidence in his ability to succeed than he should not attempt to move up the ladder and just coach db for the rest of his career, otherwise a future hc position somewhere may eventually await.
