Rob Spence (Syracuse)...

Wasn't he on the short list to replace Fisher back in 2007 while he was at Clemson? Doesn't he have ties to Miles somehow?
I'm not saying I want him, but I would like to eliminate him from my list. Does anyone remember the details of why he didn't get it in 07?

yeah, I do not want Spence at all, but as I was doing research on some of these guys, I seemed to recall Spence being in the running to take over when Fisher left. If I recall, he was one of the Top3 candidates on the boards at the time.

spence is kind of a crowton clone...very socrates deep in thought trying to outsmart the defense which ends up not working. he runs a 3 tight end spread...he comes up with some whacky formations, tries to be a physical zone run team but is mostly spread. screens are every other play...bubble, jail break, slip, TE middle screen...every down is a screen down, doesn't really challenge vertically. he has some great offenses at hofstra and toledo, he was ok at clemson, dabo fired him because they had different philosophies and syracuse coach wanted a different type of offense. he can coach quarterbacks...mccown at tech was good under him, charlie whitehurst had his best season under him, paulus was decent, maybe he could be a QB coach at a school like LSU
