Riley's explanations for his media absence last week don't really make sense.

First off, Riley missed all of his media obligations last Tuesday - the scheduled press conference with the media, and then the coaches show a few hours later.
He was immediately asked about this in a Zoom conference on Thursday and this was his answer:

Ok, fair answer. Still a bid odd, but time to move on.
But later during the conference he's asked again about the absence, and if his phone was blowing up at the time given the existing rumors regarding LSU -

So...he previously said it had nothing to do with football or his job, but then says he was just there, working, "doing my thing", and it was pretty boring? Not only does that conflict with this earlier statement about it having nothing to do with work, but why would doing normal boring football work cause you to miss scheduled media obligations?
And if you watch the video, he stumbles a bit with the statement.
I'm not suggesting he was in Baton Rouge or anything, but these statements don't really square with one another, nor does it really even serve as an adequate explanation as to why a high profile coach would miss an entire day's worth of scheduled media sessions the week before playing a ranked opponent.

Yeah, it was a personal matter, had nothing to do with my job, football, anything like that. It was just a matter I was dealing with. I dealt with it, and it didn't take away from any of our preparation here thankfully. And back to normal now.

My mom texted me and asked if I was OK, that was about it. So no, not really, I mean...I was, you know...here, working, doing my thing. So, ummm...nah not really. I'm kind of sheltered during the season. I'm sure there's a good story I'll hear later on. It was a lot more boring I'm sure than what's out there.

Sounds like either him or wife were at the doctor or something.

He’s just playing the game to get a raise at OU.

Most likely salty about the way things shook out in Waco and didn’t want to answer and questions, can you blame him? Personally I think he should have just shown up and answered the questions, since he’s paid to do just that (unless of course it was a serious personal matter).

This was all before the game.
