Either of these two would be great hires. One has maintained a top tier program in Riley, and the other has built a top tier program in Franklin. Both can recruit very well, especially considering both are in states that don’t produce a ton of talent, mostly having to go out of state. Beyond all of that, the are also both great leaders and coaches in general. I really hope LSU’s hires is one of these two guys.

I’m not trying to be a smart arse, but what top tier program has Franklin built?

Franklin Way overrated. Look at his total body of work. We don't need mediocrity.

I didn't post that, but he took a severely sanctioned program and turned it around fast.

To a point, though. They’re decent, not world beaters at really any stage. It’d mean a lot more to me if he’d actually been able to compete with OSU on a yearly basis. I’m just not buying him as elite.

Edit to add: his competition is awful. OSU is the only real year-in year-out competition. The Big10 has been down for years.

This isn't making the argument you think it is? If anything his body of work is impressive, and they had one bad season last year. They haven't gotten over the OSU hump yet, but that isn't easy.
