Rank These Saboteurs According To Their Level Of Blame In Tennessee HC Search

Beverly Davenport?
- Chancellor who is an outsider and been on the job less than a year. Can she provide adequate leadership? Is she a helpless bystander to the good ole boys club?
John Currie?
- AD who comes across as an aimless idiot but maybe he’s ok and been knifed?
Bill Haslam?
- Billionaire Governor, oil man
Jim Haslam?
- Billionaire booster, Cleveland Browns owner, oil man, by all accounts a major role player.
Phil Fulmer?
- Former HC and program hanger on with influence who wants to have a role and say.
Clay Travis?
- Media whore who throws red meat to fan base and works them up to a lathered frenzy.
Peyton Manning?
- Pizza parlor owner and wannabe football executive, beloved former qb, by all accounts a player behind scenes. Rational influence or meddling green fool playing around over his head with things he has no experience with?
Fan base?
- Foolishly convinced themselves yet again that they were getting Gruden or Petersen as a fallback plan then melted when X was leaked as the guy. Long suffering followers that remember the good days, saw the new hire as a chance to be legit again, and cannot accept reality that they are no longer a top tier choice program.
Am I missing anyone?
My guess is a lack of leadership by Davenport and Currie is the crux of the problem, complicated and extenuated by powerful meddling boosters (Haslam, others) engaged in a power struggle with no real leader providing a guiding role, topped off by an emotional, borderline hysterical fan base whose worst predispositions were encouraged by an opportunistic gaggle of media whores (led by Travis and a couple local UT sports guys).

Personally I think Peyton comes off as the biggest heel. He sold out the well-being of UT football for a shot at an NFL franchise. Currie was just a stooge and say what you will about Fulmer, he probably has the best interests of UT football in mind. The Haslams would fall into that category as well as they feel UT football is served best by being under their control.
Peyton's motives were nothing but self-serving.

John Currie
The fanbase/Phil/Bev (more sabotaging Currie but w/e)

So you’re saying that Manning basically used his influence in UT’s transition as a laboratory and learning experience for his own self interest rather than UT’s well being.
I’ve wondered the same.

Did I miss something? What has Peyton done?

Yep. I don't really understand how he became the bad guy. The Haslems basically told him to hire Schiano. It fell apart because of people like Clay Travis using the Penn St allegations (even though later they would claim it had nothing to do with Sandusky). Then basically everyone involved wouldn't let him hire Brohm or Leach and he gets fired.
Is this search stranger than the Alabama search in 02-03? Mal Moore flew all over the country, was rejected by people like Jim Leavitt and Mike Riley. Hired Mike Price. Fired Mike Price. Then hired Mike Shula while also being criticized for being a racist because he interviewed Sylvester Croom.

Fulmer is getting named interim AD later today, so he's gotta be up there
