That you think you're going to make people jealous and that will get Napier hired? Yeah, weird. 3rd grade level brain too.

should we take our cues from florida? they haven't been the best at hiring football coaches recently.

No premier SEC program is going to risk their career on Napier. That jump is the moon.
Stoops looks good for them.

They were also ecstatic about Dan Mullen saying he was going to overthrow Saban only 2 months ago

That they've had to fire 3 coaches in 10 years?

But don't they know he coaches at ULL?

Yep…. And will kill it there. LSU will do another Spurrier in this case.
Spurrier wanted the LSU job bad….. but Duke was not big enough. Lol

A.) We don’t know that for sure…
B.) Good for them?
If Scott hires Napier, than he missed on a lot of guys.

They hired the hot name in coaching candidates all 3 times. 4 if you count Urban. You can argue that it didn’t work out but they actually have a better track record of reeling in the popular candidates than we do. Honestly the only unpopular hire they’ve made in the last 30 years is Ron Zook.

in 2017 they got turned down by Frost and Kelly. But sure you're right that McElwain and Muschamp were seen as good hires. I think that just shows how flukey this can all be--going after the top name on the board is not the smartest way of going about things sometimes.
When Meyer left Florida needed someone who could overhaul and improve the culture of the program. Instead they went and got the hottest recruiter on the market because he might take over at Texas. McElwain I don't think you could've anticipated that going horribly, but it was a good example of not vetting your candidate enough. There was clearly a personality clash there that didn't go well in the end.
Mullen...the other thread today nailed it. That was a perfect hire on paper and it still didn't work out. I was mostly being facetious in my op, but there are a lot of lessons to be drawn from the mistakes Florida has made recently.

^^^this. We can agree on that. Our last 3 hires were not our first choice nor were they the hot name but all won championships

Spurrier wanted the LSU job when Miles was hired which was after he was at Florida and then the Redskins. We took Les over him and Spurrier went to USCe.
