Pros:
If you believe Les Miles can recruit well, he has the option to take the place of the defensive coordinator on recruiting visits. The dead period ends soon.

Cons:
Defensive recruits don't know who will be the coordinator, the scheme that coordinator will run, etc. The uncertainty there could be bad for securing commitments.

Anything else I'm missing? If Miles feels like they won't miss a beat because he will be the one taking the recruiting spot, then he can wait another week or so to get a DC.

Mostly by our fans on message boards which doesn't mean anything in the long run. Remember the super long "who's turned down the Bama job" thread? It ain't funny no more.
