Sources tell FootballCoachScoop that the search for the replacement of Running Backs coach Larry Porter is in full swing. Head Coach Les Miles has his sights on Tyrone Wheatley, Eastern Michigan Running Backs coach, as he is a former Michigan star when Miles was an assistant and NFL star RB. Also, Les will talk with Tony Alford (Notre Dame), Frank Wilson (Tennessee), Robert Gillespie (Oklahoma State) and Clarence McKinney (Houston).

I totally agree............Wheatley seems legit, and I'd take OSU's guy just cause he has SEC ties.

Haven't found much on Wheatley outside of what I read in EMU's media guide. He doesn't have much of a resume as a coach.

This is true but I account playing experience into coaching.......10 years in NFL.

If Frank Wilson comes to LSU it will be his 5th school in 4 years.

All jokes aside he is a hell of a recruiter and has great ties to the New Orleans and south Lousisiana area.

I agree. He doesn't blow me away in the slightest.

frick Frank Wilson. Who cares about his recruiting? He can't coach for shite and will bolt the minute something goes wrong. Do. Not. Want. Hes slime and if you enjoy watching players blow up on their coach...you'll be rewarded with that in the Wilson hire.
And IMO, I do not think Wilson is as good of a recruiter as everyone says.

Is the reason Eddie Gran isn’t listed as a candidate for the running backs job because of the thought he would be going with Tubbs wherever he goes this year or in the future? I ask because he seems to be a hell of a running back coach producing some really nice backs and seems to be a pretty good recruiter at the same time or is there something I don’t know?

the search should begin and end with Clarence McKinney. he's has serious h.s. ties to the houston/texas area. booker t washington, houston yates, ect. looking for recruiting, this is your man.
